The Tampa Tribune posts a flier that the Mitt Romney campaign is distributing in Florida, attacking Rick Perry as "reckless and wrong on social security."
The top of the flier has pictures of a smiling Romney and a surly-looking Perry, and reads: "Two candidates. Only one will protect what's important to you." Continue Reading
"Rick Perry believes social security is a 'failure,'" the flier says, quoting the Texas governor's book. "Rick Perry believes Social Security is unconstitutional ... Rick Perry does not believe Social Security should exist ... How can we trust anyone who wants to kill Social Security?"
Notably not mentioned in the flier: the term "Ponzi scheme," which Perry used to describe Social Security in his book and again in the POLITICO/NBC debate Wednesday. While some Perry critics have fixated on that language, the Romney campaign apparently believes it's not the worst of Perry's problems when it comes to the popular entitlement program.
Except for the photo of Romney, the flier is also almost exactly the kind of attack the Obama campaign could use against Perry in a general election.
I think it was a result of it. Diarrhea is the natural result of constant stress and fear. That dog had to be terrified up there alone.
So, we have one candidate who shoots a coyote to save his dog and another one who ties his dog to the top of the station wagon and drives for hours.
It's a big lie through selective editing. Romney claims only he will "preserve and protect Social Security."
Perry said those on Social Security and those near retirement have nothing to worry about and those who say changes aren't needed are lying to younger workers.
Even the Social Security Administration's website says, "The constitutional basis of the Social Security Act was uncertain." And that was specifically a 10th amendment issue.
The fact is FDR's first New Deal attempts were shot down and his response was a war on the Supreme Court and attempt to pack the court by appointing six more than the traditional number of justices under the guise of making the court more efficient. The constitution does not specify the number of Justices who will sit on the court.
His threats where heard loud and clear and SCOTUS reversed course on New Deal legislation and by SCOTUS I really mean one justice.
Infamously, it's referred to "the switch in time that saved nine" because one justice, Owen J. Roberts shifted left to give FDR 5-4 decisions in favor of New Deal legislation instead of 5-4 against.
Thanks to his switch we got the infamous NLRB, the broken Social Security system and the minimum wage.
To deny the constitutional questions surround the New Deal, and the thug tactics of FDR to get his way, is to deny American history.
If you notice a similarity with ObamaCare and this administration's tactics, you can be certain it's no accident.
You Perry lovers don’t know how to answer a question. Now I know why he couldn’t answer anything the other day. Go Sarah!!!!!
How non-clever of you.
Ron Pauls Reagan Revisionism -- letter knocking Reaganmics and resigning from GOP.
Gov. Perry is the one where a good man left his hospice bed Thursday in Orange County, CA to give the invocation at a Perry event.
If you read down in that thread I believe that good man takes a swipe at Mitt -- ....."his disdain for high-rollers who expected a quid-pro-quo for their donations. In all his years shifting money between people and conservative causes and candidates, he says, only one person ever blatantly asked for something in return. That person now a candidate may well win in 2012. If so, and if something unexpectedly, dare one say miraculously keeps that person from actually taking office? "That'll be me," Tom joked, pointing heavenward."
It ought to be real easy to convert young people to abandon the Democrats when they realize what is going to happen to them. That bunch is ripe for the picking.
Sickening ad...
Thanks. I hadn’t seen that thread.
Nice interview, but it is Nov 4th, 2010 not 2011. I had to do a double take when I saw your date. I thought are we even in Nov yet. LOL...
Darn! Thanks for catching that!
Obama wants to defund Social Security.
Mitt has habitually represented himself as a moral mormon. Reality has proven to be the opposite:
... Mitt knowingly allowed his campaign staff to pose as policeman to get him through traffic
... Mitt knowingly cashed Marriot Board of Directors checks funded by pornography
... Mitt knowingly lied on this flyer.
It is worth noting that Mitt is a liar in addition to being a RINO.
Obama wants your funds period.
He’s pissed you direct any of your earned wages yourself.
“There is only one demonstrably honest and un-hypocritical man”
and just two ticks past sane on the crazy dial...
I’ll be so glad if Romney makes it. We can finally put all the uppity women back in their place.
With Karl Rove backing him, it fits.
LOL
Deceitful statement. The guy was a Democrat but was not a liberal Democrat--in the south, they actually had such critters as "conservative" Dims. However, no more.
>>>>>>Answer the question or f off.
Okay.
You know me. I don't run from honest questions. I just find your opposition to Perry over the top. Lots of folks were Democrats in 1988-1989 and some of them were so-called conservative Democrats, aka. Scoop Jackson Democrats and pro-life Democrats. Some even became Republicans.
My strong opposition to Romney is no secret. It goes back to Jan2007 when he announced his run for potus. Right now, can't say I'd vote for Rick Perry. I question his immigration stance, which is mixed at best. But if the choices were Perry or Romney, I'd take Perry in a heartbeat. Especially with Michelle Bachmann and Herman Cain fading fast.
