Yes, I am aware he ran Libertarian in 1988-but he did not in 2008, 20 years later, so IMHO it is less likely he would run 3rd party again.
She's good enough to run for president. She won't win, but she's good enough to run.
IMHO she's not going to run. She's doing just fine doing whatever the heck it is that she is doing.
John Kerry almost made it to the Whitehouse flip flopping on a daily basis so I'm not too worried about it. That being said who knows what her true position on the subject was.
If I am not mistaken he resigned from GOP when he ran in 1988..l but I am not from TX nor am I Libertarian, so I don’t know all that much except that there were rumors of him running 3rd party in 2008 and he chose not to do that.
Three years after Palin’s emancipation from McCain, and you’re still trying to tie his agenda around her neck.
Fortunately, most conservative voters understand the fundamentals of presidential campaigning, and realize that the VP candidate only speaks for the boss, and has to toe the company line.
Why don’t you comment on her current (independent) positions and statements, which were alluded to and quoted in the original post?
I don't mind her flip flopping and changing her position. What I would not like would be if she were lying about her position when she was supporting the TARP bailout so that she could be a loyal lackey for the McCain campaign. Such behavior goes against all that we know and like about Sarah Palin.
So since she wasn't faking it, then she must have been in favor of the TARP bailout in 2008.
She later changed her mind. That's good. Everyone is entitled to change their position, but it is dishonest to pretend you never held a position that you publicly favored.
If Perry had changed his mind, he would be called an opportunist. But it seems a lot of Palin Supporters would prefer to believe that Sarah Palin was being disingenuous when she was running for VP, but that we can be assured that she will be totally straightforward now.
Does not compute.
It wasn't for a lack of trying. There was an army of journalists to go over every little detail, yet Obama remains an international man of mystery.
They feel her coming, and are now desperate to try anything they haven't already tried, in order to stop her. This could be a reverse psychology campaign they're waging, in the hopes that folks like us will see positive reviews of Palin in the left-wing media and turn on her.
They've finally figured out that the patriotic right comes away with the exact opposite impression of everything they write. The left is very much into mind games and psychological manipulation. I wouldn't put such a thing past them at all.
But of course one like you would have loved for her to have completely blow up said campaign, and suffer the blame forever after, RIGHT? Some people are stupid, other's are just outright fools, unlike them, Sarah Palin is neither
No, I haven’t read the book. If you are correct, I’m glad she won’t split away and go third party. That would just mess up any chance of conservatives winning.
Wonder what she is waiting for...
You betcha!
And another thing......
If Palin "rises above politics" as the author suggests, and just helps promote policy she will never be heard by most of the country as the media will be apt to suppress what she says. But if she were the POTUS, the entire country will hear her and they need to.
It’s about time someone made a distinction between the capitalism that is part of the solution and the capitalism that is part of the problem. I hope she continues pointing that out.
Golly, it's been 24 years since Perry supported Al Gore and the Palin supporters here keep trying to tie that one around Perry's neck.
Perry admitted that he was an Al Gore supporter. Has Palin admitted that three years ago she was a cheerleader for the TARP Bailout?
Oh, and BTW it was only a year and a half ago that she was barking for the McCain Carnival in his bid against Tea Party Conservative JD Hayworth.
Needle in a haystack as far as I’m concerned. If more and more examples like this begin to surface then it could be a game changer for me.
As far as I’m concerned, she had to toe the McCain line. She could have in-fact thought the bail outs were the right thing to do, but we’ve had a few years to see it’s effectiveness or lack thereof.
You have just as good a chance of finding Big Foot than figuring out what was actually going on in her mind.
She’s not stupid. She’s already proven that she’s willing to take on both parties even when she’s a member of one of them.
There you go again with your sacred state-run media polls.
Why do you continue to promote the enemy's de facto propaganda wing on this website?
If she disagreed with McCain, she could have just not said anything in favor of the fiasco or she could have been honest and said that while she respected McCain, she disagreed with him on this issue.
Instead, she defended the TARP Bailout on National Television in the Biden Debate and the Couric interview.
Why can't you guys just admit that Sarah Palin supported TARP?
There is no question about it.
If she didn't really support it, then she is just another dishonest go-along-to-get-along political hack.
I seem to have more respect for her than her supporters here on Free Republic.
Had to? So she was just a lackey?
She could have in-fact thought the bail outs were the right thing to do, but weve had a few years to see its effectiveness or lack thereof.
If you believe she is an honest person, then this is what must have happened.
You have just as good a chance of finding Big Foot than figuring out what was actually going on in her mind.
Hasn't anyone asked her? Would she answer such a question?
I think what was on her mind was what she told Couric. It was HER mind, wasn't it?
