Of course if she runs (which I doubt) I will give her a fair hearing, compare her (almost non-existent) record to Perrys” of 10 years and I will vote accordingly.

What a crock of bravo sierra! Perry is a RINO. SP is a patriotic mom with enough experience to get things done. Your statement shows your hand without even watching for your "tells".

To elect her in 2012, she’d have to run. So far, she isn’t. Now she is in agreement with Rick Perry on Social Security?

And she supported McCain not just in 2008 but for re-election to the Senate over a much more conservative candidate in the primary.

Apparantly Sarah likes RINO’s.

Absolutely. All these stupid rules on how people are allowed to save. Get the government out! This is also a golden opportunity to go to a flat or fair tax and abolish the IRS. We wouldn’t have to worry about the taxability of investments and it would encourage more to save for their own retirement.

I just saw Sarah Palin interviewed by Megan Kelly on Fox News. I was excited to see her embrace Rick Perry on just about all of his comments in the debate. The other candidates, not so much. She was a little harsh on his delivery and possible effect on senior citizens. But, the idea that SS has to be addressed as Perry described it, Sarah was in complete agreement.

Hope this site doesn't short-circuit when this interview makes the headlines. lol

Perry is a little late in your making that claim. She was talking about it SIX MONTHS ago! She doesn't have to announce any time soon, and especially not for your benefit. She is likely running, just also as likely maximizing her opportunity. She's smart, that way, way smarter than you PDSers!!!

**************

Bill O'Really, MARCH 24, 2011 talking to Sarah Palin:

..."So governor, let's start with Social Security. What would you do there?"

SARAH PALIN, FOX NEWS CONTRIBUTOR: "Oh yes, entitlement programs have to be reformed. You know, they're going to eat our lunch. They will certainly consume our entire federal budget by the year 2035 unless we reform.

First of all, we have to assure those who are of retirement age now who are reliant upon that pension plan of theirs -- a pension is a promise and we can't take away what is -- what's essentially confiscated from their paychecks by the government in every paycheck. And with trust, they allowed the government to invest their money. And now they believe that it -- it's time and it is time for them to be able to collect. But for new enrollees, everything changes. Everything must change. ..."

PALIN: ... "They're not truthful so we have to be truthful. And we have to deal with the reality."

Perry is a Texas Aggie Alpha Male...he will come across as gruff...but his fellow Texans understand him. And are taken back when Texans act in any other manner. So his deliver may not be to Sarah’s liking but hey we are Texas.

Huh? Perry's book where he laid out the problems with Social Security came out a year and a half ago. How is he "late to the game"?

Hahahahahahahahaha... A remark was made about Governor Palin that needed response. That was an invitation for response, and I did so. You're laughable to make your claim about Palin threads.

Get real! I see Perrisites all over the Palin threads! Here's just one from last week. Peruse it and get back to me with an apology!

Editorial Reviews

Review

"Campaign books are terrible....Any campaign book, that is, except Rick Perry's Fed Up.... This is not a boring book. More to the point, it's not even a book about Rick Perry. It's a book about Rick Perry's ideas. And his big idea is that most everything the federal government does is unconstitutional..... Perry's book is... a serious argument about what kind of country we should be. I recommend it highly." (Washington Post Ezra Klein )

"A new cowboy ... has entered the ring, toting his own political book....it's big, bold, and, to borrow a word that was once associated with our current commander-in-chief, audacious." (Christian Science Monitor Husna Haq )

"If he's good for Texas, why not America? Could Perry be the second coming of Ronald Reagan, the plain-spoken man from the West who presided over a new 'Morning in America' by cutting taxes, reducing government (well, promising to), and standing tall against the nation's enemies? As the tea-party movement gains momentum, as more Americans are mad as hell and not going to take it anymore, Perry is their kind of hero, an avatar of a lost age that could come again, if only Washington politicians and other undesirables were put in their place." (Newsweek )

"My friend Rick Perry knows that it is the American people who make this country great and not Washington. With appropriate respect for both our rich history and the practical needs of today, Rick sees a bright future for America, based on freedom and limited government." (Bobby Jindal, Governor of Louisiana )

"Rick Perry has hit the proverbial nail on the head in FED UP!, making a powerful case for a return to limited government and the restoration of the proper balance of power between Washington and the states. As Governor of Texas, he has seen firsthand the greatness of America and the prosperity we can enjoy when we empower people and get government out of the way. He explains in detail the historical, constitutional, and practical reasons why a government closest to the people protects liberty, and lays out the path to right the ship - citizen involvement and engagement to hold politicians accountable. No citizen should skip this book - your future depends on getting this right." (Rush Limbaugh )

"In FED UP!, Governor Perry explains that we can and will save America by taking necessary steps to restore the proper balance of power between federal and state government. He understands what seemingly few other prominent politicians do-that America's greatness stems from the people and our collective respect for the Constitution, not from the 'geniuses' in Washington." (Mark Levin )

"FED UP! lays out the truth of how far our Washington politicians have driven this nation off track. It's refreshing to read that at least one of our leaders understood what my dad always knew. The Government works for the people and not the other way around." (Michael Reagan )

Product Description

Now, do not misunderstand me, America is great.

But we are fed up with being over-taxed and over-regulated. We are tired of being told how much salt to put on our food, what kind of cars we can drive, what kinds of guns we can own, what kind of prayers we are allowed to say and where we can say them, what we are allowed to do to elect political candidates, what kind of energy we can use, what doctor we can see. What kind of nation are we becoming? I fear it's the very kind the Colonists fought against.

But perhaps most of all, we are fed up because deep down we know how great America has always been, how many great things the people do in spite of their government, and how great the nation can be in the future if government will just get out of the way.

Our fight is clear. We must step up and retake the reins of our government from a Washington establishment that has abused our trust. We must empower states to fight for our beliefs, elect only leaders who are on our team, set out to remind our fellow Americans why liberty is guaranteed in the Constitution, and take concrete steps to take back our country. The American people have never sat idle when liberty's trumpet sounds the call to battle-and today that battle is for the soul of America.

I am sick and tired of the Washington elites telling us what is appropriate language and I am very glad to see Rick Perry sticking to his guns! He is right, it is a ponzi scheme and the American people know it!

If it’s not a scheme, then just like RusH said, give me back all of my money I put into it and let me be! If it’s not a ponzi scheme, then let the free market dictate and see how many americans bail! Let those that stay in the SS stay and let it run on its own buy allow me to leave it and place my hard earned money elsewhere! I can also will it to whoever I wish!

It is a ponzi scheme and it should be dismantled!

I actually do not suffer from PDS. I like many things about the woman, I just don’t believe that she can beat Obama. I also enjoy causing some of her more....”enthusiastic” supporters a little indigestion.

She backed McCain for Senate Re-election. Even knowing his views on Illegal Immigration.

She endorsed Perry for re-election to Governor. Even knowing his views on Illegal Immigration.

Is it possible (asking not stating) that she’s not as conservative as you apparantly believe her to be?

Don’t worry the SS system will be around when the 40 group is eligible. Of course, the dollar they will get back will only be worth a fraction of the dollar they paid in. But then that goes for any plan because inflation by government will kill any retirement plan. You can’t save enough in old dollars to cover inflation of new dollars. If Perry or anyone else has a plan that will beat inflation, then it will be worth looking at. Right now it is just campaign speech [as is the others].

BTW - The only reason nothing will be there is if the government continues to export the jobs that once paid into the system. Then with no one paying in, you are screwed. That’s a problem for today as well. The real Ponzi is the jobs that used to pay into the system are in China and neither the worker or the employer is paying in.

Yeah. I really enjoyed reading the NYT article about how Perry has it all wrong. SS is fine. In fact, people in their forties will even get 75% of what current recipients receive. Woo hoo!

Of course, current recipients don't receive enough to live on now, so 75% is really going to be fun with inflation in 25 years. And never mind the fact that if we had the money we invested we could have a very comfortable retirement from it...never mind that. SS ain't broke. It's not a failure. No way. ; )

Why wouldn't this also be an argument for open borders? If we're just after warm bodies we've got 50 million and more over that time period in immigrants.

It's the difference between strangers from a strange land that you met on a train, and members of your own family. Culturally the difference is chasmic, and possibly deadly.
