Union Maid (Sarah Palin fights Jimmy Hoffa for the soul of the rank-and-file)
The New York Sun ^ | September 6, 2011 | The Editors

No sooner had we issued our editorial “Jimmy Hoffa’s War” than a wire came in from one of Sarah Palin’s most assiduous supporters, Benyamin Korn, with a copy of her Labor Day posting on Facebook. Our editorial had wondered where the original Jimmy Hoffa would have been today. It remarked on the phenomenon of the Reagan Democrats, who comprehended that the true interests of working men and women in America lay with the idea of economic growth. And it remarked on the need for someone who makes this point today. Well, Mrs. Palin's riposte is a humdinger.

It turns out that Mrs. Palin understands this issue down to the ground. She brings to it the perspective of being the daughter of two union members and the wife of long-time union member, most recently of the Steelworkers, and is, in her own right, a one-time card-carrying member of the International_Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Addressing what she called “the hard working, patriotic, selfless union brothers and sisters in Michigan and throughout our country,” she warned the rank and file against being taken in by “union bosses’ thuggery.”

She was referring to Mr. Hoffa’s deciding to introduce Mr. Obama at the now famous labor rally in Detroit by declaring that labor was his army and ready to march and exhorting, in respect of the Tea Party, “let’s take these sons of bitches out.” Said she: “Just because you claim to represent union members doesn’t mean you are on the side of the angels. The greed of too many of these union bosses has all but destroyed the labor movement in this country, helped chase away our jobs, and is killing the American dream.”

Quoth the Alert_Alaskan: “To see where this leads, look at what’s happening to the working class in our industrialized cities.....

I still don’t think she’s going to run.

However, she does seem to be able to read the stitches on a fastball and send it to the upper deck over the center-field fence.

IF she does run it will be great fun.

I still don’t think she’s going to run.

If she wasn't going to run, she would have said so a long time ago.

If she ran a conventional campaign, the GOP ruling class would have taken her out a long time ago, because to them, DC is an exclusive country club of which they are a member. The last thing they want is somebody to come in and rock them right out of the boat.

In order to win the nomination, she has to outwit and outmaneuver them.

And if she succeeds at that, imagine how many knots she'll tie Ubama into.

My bet is TOTUS will refuse to debate her. A quick wit beats a TelePrompTer every time.

Fun? This is a battle to the death.

I think there’s too much at stake for this to be the least bit fun.

Hey Hoffa, now you’re messing with...

(Maybe cover version by the Nuge as her campaign theme song?)

“This is a battle to the death.”

Absolutely right! But who will die? Socialism or America? I’m praying it’ll be socialism after which we can do something about Islam.

She decided to run in September 2008 and has been running ever since. She has the media going in small circles and all of her opponents dancing to her drummer. I hope I didn’t give anything away Governor Palin?

At this point I would argue that this IS Palin running.

She's doing it now, but many people don't recognize it because she's not following the rules set by the political elite.

Meanwhile Perry, like Obama is silent on Hoffa's comments.

Amidst the silence on threats to non-union citizens some innocent hostages have been taken by union thugs in Washington state.

I'm not sure but I think that's considered a terrorist attack/threat when anyone besides Obama/Democrat supporters do it...Or maybe it's business as usual in Texas.

I believe Sarah Palin will run for the presidency. We will probably find out in November. Look how quickly Perry shot to the top. Palin will make him look positively pedantic.

If “Divine Providence” was at work in the founding of our country, “Divine Providence” can still be at work. Had McCain been elected, America would have slid slowly deeper into the muck. The likes of us would have gritted our teeth and taken his rino crap because there would have been no alternative. We would not have revolted. The Tea Party would never have been birthed, or it would have been significantly weaker than it is. It took the evil of obama to break the chain of events. “Divine Providence” at work.

WOW! Freepers are among the most credible of thinkers. I find myself just as intrigued by the responses of all of you than I am with some of the articles themselves. My hat is off to all of you. I would like to think that there is a better way to get ourselves through the next 14 months of this campaign.

We must honor Reagan by not allowing ourselves to be less than we are. We must make our arguments and provide evidence for our candidate. Additionally, we must demand that statements against our candidate be accompanied with proof. We have truth and common sense on our side...we must not be afraid to jump into the fray to clarify any inconsistencies.

Anyway...God Bless each and every one of you. God Bless the Palin family in this very trying time. God Bless America and its defenders, past and present.

Interesting that they refer to her as “Mrs. Palin” instead of Governor. Initially I thought they were doing it to diss her. But instead, are they helping her by distancing her from the governing class?

Over all, it was an excellent piece on Sarah!

Are you kidding? A bunch of democrats lobbing him softballs while they try to throw Palin into a firepit?  Whoever the republican nominee is should demand that both liberals and conservatives get a chance to ask questions in the debates.

"At this point I would argue that this IS Palin running. She's doing it now, but many people don't recognize it because she's not following the rules set by the political elite."

She has already said she was running an "unorthodox campaign." Why would she say that if she wasn't running? She's already in. But she is using Sun Tzu's "Art Of War" to serious advantage. Camouflage, distraction, feints, and doing the opposite of what her adversaries expect. Sounds like Sarah to me!

Someone else had the idea of the Tea Party hosting a debate online...I would add that questions from an online audience would really stir interest. Let conservatives be in control of the venue for a change, and let the liberals be the ones running after the bandwagon after it goes viral...
