Its been three years since former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin made her splash onto the national stage as Sen. John McCains running mate in the 2008 presidential election. And since then she has acquired a very loyal following. But is that helping or hurting her?
On Tuesdays The OReilly Factor, conservative columnist and author of Demonic: How the Liberal Mob Is Endangering America, Ann Coulter expressed her concern over the Palin phenomenon. She was asked by substitute host Laura Ingraham if Palin can maintain her status as a tea party favorite by stringing people along about her potential 2012 candidacy.
Maybe not, Coulter said. Newt Gingrich carried it on for 15 years and I kind of think that might be what were getting here, largely because of the polls. I mean, you just showed the Fox News poll, Gallup took a poll, I dont know five, six months ago, showing that not quite as high as 74 percent, but 65 percent said they would never definitely, positively, ever vote for Sarah Palin I might add, that oh, its the medias fault and they attacked her and saw her as a threat, all of which I believe is true.
Coulter pointed out that conservatives are reluctant to criticize Palin for fear of a backlash and spoke about her own experiences.
Most Americans dont want Sarah Palin for president, Coulter continued. But shes become sort of the Obama of the tea party. Shes just the one to a certain segment of right-wingers and the tiniest criticism of her, I think many of your viewers may not know this no conservative on TV will criticize Palin because they dont want to deal with the hate mail. You say her voice is a few octaves too high or perhaps Michele Bachmans speaking voice is more modulated and you will be inundated with enraged emails.
But Coulter said that the loyal following Palin has could be a liability in the long run.
No, I agree and I think shes terrific at what she does, but I tend to agree with you, Coulter said. I got sick of it with Newt Gingrich too, fish or cut bait because you are ginning up this group of Americans who will not even consider anyone else. You know, we used to all love Sarah Palin conservatives like me for her enemies. Im starting to dislike her because of her fans
I think shes bright, but her good points do not seem to be in the direction of running for president. I sort of wish just like Newt Gingrich, just run so we can get this over with.
Beg to differ. A lot of folks have been noticing inexplicable shifts in Ann Coulter's behavior over the years. It's been much commented on, on this forum.
Perhaps you haven't noticed, but she fell out of favor here a long time ago. There were lots of reasons for that. Her behavior tonight is just more confirmation that something's changed with her, and it isn't good.
Early polls are useless...lots of time left.
>>> She sounds like Ron Paul in drag. Shes a lesbian and needs a bulldyke to back.
“Coulter: Palin’s fans are a liability”
And I bet you don’t even see how you prove her remarks.
Calling Ann vile schoolyard names doesn’t change the truth of her statement. As the serious candidates leave Palin even further behind in their dust I suppose it will only get worse. Failed cultists tend to be bad sports.
What can she say to someone who has already decided that they support someone else for President? It's not like they have to wonder who Sarah Palin is or what her policies are.
You find all this entertaining? What a weird thing to say.
Perhaps I shouldn't be surprised. After all, you've already mistaken all of the "exploding heads" for staunch Palin supporters, which couldn't be further from the truth.
Go read some Palin threads. Those who are moaning and groaning are fence sitters, or even known detractors. We solid Palin supporters are comfortable in our certainty that she's going to announce - just not on anyone else's timetable.
It is absolutely the most entertaining part of this primary.

I'm using exploding heads as a euphemism for the severity of the personal attacks ramping up towards people who doubt either her entrance into the race, and/or her success in the field if she announces. It's getting slightly nastier every day. Witness what's been said about Coulter on this very thread as an example.
...just not on anyone else's timetable.
I've heard this little blurb so many times it's starting to sound like Newspeak.
“It’s not like they have to wonder who Sarah Palin is or what her policies are. “
The average American has no idea what her policies are. Since she hasn’t announced, she doesn’t have issue statements out there.
Hell, the Independents are busy waiting to see if Chastity is really a guy on Dancing WTS. lol...it’s early.
I’m not convinced she is running, but I’ll order the Lobster on the menu, if they don’t have it, I’ll take the steak.

So, are you a Coulter cultist or just a RINO?
Coulter supports Christie...so she is just a RINO now or she is a pussycat who is willing to sell out for anybody that she believes can beat Obama....
“Christie....we talkin bout Christie?
That's denial, and whistling past the graveyard. What I stated in my previous post is true, and any number of posters here will vouch for it. Freepers have proven time and again that modern polling is routinely manipulated to produce a desired result. This is not debatable.
Is every single poll manipulated? Perhaps not. Do any of them honestly reflect real voter sentiment? Perhaps, but as I said, they should be taken with a grain of salt, and one should not confine their observational parameters to numbers produced by private organizations with questionable business practices or political connections. There are lots of other measurable indicators that can be used to gain insight into voter sentiment.
Heh...it’s pretty cool, ain’t it? Purrrfectly captures just the right mood for responding to trolls.
I notice our little red light district friend fell off the thread. Wonder why?
Skeered of kitties, maybe? :)
Methinks so.
“1. Impervious to knowledge or logic
2. Devoid of even the slightest sense of tact
3. cultish to the point of being semi-creepy
...Oh, you blessed little worms...”
When you Troll at least be amusing and/or use proper punctuation (.), capitalization and spelling (Cultist).
trickamsterdam (District: Red-light...)
Red-homo-light...
No doubt.
Supporting Sarah Palin, and agreeing with her conservative ideas, principles, and her proposals for policy, is not "hero worship".
Unlike most of the other potential candidates of either party, she has written and spoken of the above consistently. Her record as governor, O&G Commissioner, Mayor, and Councilman, all reflect a consistent record of adherence to the same principles and policies.
You, on the other hand, seem to have great difficulty discussing anything remotely reflecting any conservative ideas, principles, or policy.
Thanks n00b! LOLOLzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
I’ve certainly noticed that she’s fallen out of favor with some on FR, but I’ve never seen the like of the attacks here that her statement on Palin has provoked.
Ann is always surprising on TV. Why would they have her on otherwise? She’s always over the top and making conservatives think in ways they might not have. Her support for Christie has fallen into that category from the get-go. Now I think she realizes he will not run and has become humorous about it.
All she did was state an opinion about electability. You would think she had savaged Palin the way people here are savaging Ann. The ad hominems are despicable, and the overgeneralization to all women and a complete geographical region and college football league is worthy of a five-year-old.
Let Ann be Ann. She used to count Free Republic as “my people.” I think if she has changed, it might be in that estimation, and she could easily be forgiven for it.
If she doesn’t want to be critiqued....she should try another field.
Didn’t she support Romney last cycle?
She’s acting like a RINO liberal or the Joey Scarborough of Fox. You really think she gets to insult Palin and her supporters and she is immune from counters....lol.
Christie......we talk’n bout Christie?
>>> Christie....we talkin bout Christie?
Mainly we’re talking about a bunch of people here who are acting just nuts when confronted with some unwelcome cold reality that seeped in from the real world. It was a lot funnier watching the Howard Dean moonies go through this same curve.
