Palin: theres room for more (audio) September 2, 2011 By O.Kay Henderson 4 Comments As former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin walked in the front door of The Machine Shed restaurant in Urbandale, Iowa, this evening, a reporter asked Palin what she thought about the current field of GOP presidential candidates.
Happy with the field of candidates. I always think that theres room for more, though, because spirited debate and more competition will allow an even better discourse and a more rigorous discourse that the public deserves, Palin said.

We don't know yet if Perry has the same widespread geographic appeal.
Hint: the Deep South is probably in the bag for the GOP anyway due to "values voters" so Perry doesn't necessarily represent a net gain there.
Cheers!
You know, it’s really up to the candidates to contest for the people’s allegiance, on the plain of ideas. I’d really like to Sarah get in the race, as a Republican candidate . Then, after focused debate, we should choose Obama’s opponent. Of all of the candidates, I like Sarah the best. And, until she loses the contest to another candidate she’s my choice. I don’t give a damn about that, “she can’t win,” attitude! The only way one is assured of not winning is by not playing! I mean, how do you reckon that “LOSER”, without bona fides, came out of nowhere to become the current resident of the Whitehouse?
Jesus...
Drawing crowds and winning primaries are two wholly different things, as Sarah will likely find out soon should she join the race.
Indeed! She will have to get those little girls, in the orange t-shirts, to vote for her!
I thought of something I haven’t seen discussed - tho maybe it has been. Seems to me in 08, when we were waiting on Fred Thompson, there was a matter of a radio contract he had to finish first? If I’m wrong, I’m sure I’ll be told. :-) What month of the year did Sarah’s contract with FOX begin; anybody know? Don’t these contracts normally run to the same date of the year they’re over? No, I’m not grasping at straws, as there’s no need to - but I am curious.
I agree with you 100%.
It would be highly unlikely that FOX News and Sarah Palin do not already know what "the decision" is.
That is why I've been saying that if she resigns her position from Fox then she's running. If not then she's not.
spelling correction; horse
I would think no matter when, it is the terms of the contract, period and the only people who would really know are not at liberty to say, so as I have said before, be patient.
If PDS means “PERRY Derangement Syndome,” then I agree.
So I guess she doesn’t have to play by the same rules as everyone else is what you are saying?
She signed a multi-year contract in January. So why would she do that and then a few months later have to resign if she ran for office? You really think she didn’t discuss this with Fox before they offered her a multi-year deal?
The only “fear” I have is twofold:
1. She’ll split the conservative vote and basically hand Romney the nomination on a platter
2. She’ll get the nomination and lose to Obama by fifteen points.
http://network.nationalpost.com/NP/blogs/posted/archive/2010/04/26/how-much-money-does-sarah-palin-make-new-york-magazine-knows.aspx (has the amount she’s making a year at Fox.)
Her support is a mile deep, but only an inch wide.
I am “accepting” of Perry regardless of my hopes that Cain would (could?) build momentum.
Although Perry has some skeletons, his overall record has been good, and I’d say, markedly more conservative than Bush 43.
I also believe that Palin is virtually unelectable vs. Obama, and Perry, at least right now, is the one that can beat him and is still someone I could vote for without a clothespin on my nose.
I don’t know if that’s true or not but if it is, it’s because people, including some Freepers, want instant gratification, and when they don’t get it they jump to the next shiny penny.
Now you beleive New York Magazine? I said contract, not educated or wishfull guessing. So what. BTW, the horse is still dead.
grey_whiskers, you have been a true honest conservative on FR for many years. When GW Bush was wrong, you called him out on it, even as some of Bush's sycophants excoriated such criticism, saying it was helping the Left. And I think your support of Sarah Palin also comes from the heart -- a patriot heart.
Polls can be wrong. Rasmussen, for example, did not even do real polling on the Scott Brown election, and his unofficial predictions were wrong. But the RCP average of polls on that election were just about exactly right: +5% For Brown. I believe that polls about Palin do show problems for her right now. Much of that problem is due to unfair attacks by the media and their allies, but we can't always expect the US public to be wise.
Electability is one of the factors I consider. I am afraid that Obama, if reelected, has a good chance of replacing conservative justices on the SCOTUS with Eric Holder clones. Also, some voters vote straight ticket, so whoever wins can help his or her party's congressional numbers. You and I agree that 4 more years of Obama would be hazardous to everyone's heath, even the Left, (although they don't see it).
Now please understand that I am not telling you whom to support or elect. I have not made up my mind yet. If either Obama or a RINO is elected in 2012, there are grave dangers. I do not want to suffer through another GWB type Presidency.
I would be very happy with a Palin Presidency, but I think that is unlikely.
