NBC Television and the White House are in ongoing discussions over coverage of President Obama's jobs speech and the NFL kick-off between the Packers and Saints.
Yesterday the White House announced that the presidential address would be over before kickoff at 7:30 next Thursday. But NBC was also planning to show extensive pre-game coverage, including some live concerts outside Lambeau Field about an hour before the game.

Why the HELL does there exist any collaboration anyway? Does Hussein run the damn network? Whatever happened to freedom? NBC has a clear choice: air Hussein, a highly unpopular prompter reader, OR put on the entertainment people want to see.
If Bush were trying to manipulate a network’s coverage, the left would be screaming bloody murder.

The speech is supposed to begin at 7pm, right? A half hour isn't really enough time to say anything. So in honor of the wonderful NFL tradition called "running out the clock" it would be great if the Republicans gave many LONG standing ovations as Obama walks in, takes the podium and starts speaking.

I heard on Rush yesterday that the NBC affiliate in Green Bay will NOT be showing the dear leader at all.
Hope other affiliates follow suit.

You forgot regulations to prevent injuries. No tackling, no jumping, and pushing. Thrown or kicked footballs will need to be pre-briefed with both teams to ensure that no one is struck with the ball.
The government could “fix” football, just like they have jobs.

What is really annoying is the media meme....saying Boehner’s reason for saying no to Hussein was because of the debate. Being repeated CONSTANTLY on tv. Boehner’s letter has nothing to say about the debate.

I'll watch the game but couldn't care less about the pre game, half time or post game crap.

Is there any doubt that Jeff Immelt has told NBC to do whatever it takes to accommodate Obama?

How many manhours has the WH spent trying to set a time and date for this speech?
I now understand why the WH could not produce a jobs plan over the last 2.5 years > they did not have enough time and resources

I guess the jouralist’s cannot read.
John’s letter was clear.
Congress returns Sept 7, and the House will hold votes.
There is simply not enough time to perform a security sweep before 0bama’s visit.
Planning and organizing is above 0bama’s pay grade

You're right..! er, left...
While they're at it. shouldn't cheer leading be open to gays?
And no more tailgating either. Mass transit will be the only way to go to the games which will only be played during daytime so as to avoid the lights and all the associated pollution. PETA will make all the footballs from Naugahyde and halftime shows will all be handled by NPR.

After all, he went on vacation for 10 daysMore like one year and 10 days. Obama told Brian Williams of NBC on Aug. 29, 2010 he would propose a plan for jobs and economic growth when he returned from his summer vacation, the same claim he made after returning from his vacation this year.
So that begs the question is Obama a liar, incompetent or has been on vacation for the last year!

Obama will try to time it so that he finishes right before the kickoff, so that there will not be any coverage of any Republican response.
If Bam's late (as usual) you think NBC will cut away in the middle of the speech to the game.
