A creek running toward the Hudson River became a river of destruction, sweeping away several businesses and hundreds of badly needed jobs in Orange County, CBS 2′s Lou Young reports.
The flood waters rushed into a creek-side complex of businesses in Cornwall, New York reducing it to rubble.
All the businesses that were down here have been wiped out, said Bill Diamond.
On one end of the scale is a candle-maker who picked through the mud for remnants of his livelihood.
At the other end, a processed food wrapping firm that still has Welchs fruit rolls that were on the line when the flood came as workers try to save the ruined machinery.
I dont have another job, said worker Marta Herrera.
There was also an electronics firm, a distributor of restaurant products and a furniture maker.
The damage is amazing. The awful smell from a brand new furniture delivery truck that was ruined by the river water, is buried up to its wheels in sand.
Around 700 workers came to this complex every day and many of them may soon be unemployed.

Call Mayor Nagin, he knows what to do.
“Don’t worry though, Captain BarryObumbles had a photo taken of him leading the rescue last weekend.”
He’s going to save NJ this weekend, by visiting Paterson. How lucky we are!
Are we to understand that none of these businesses carried insurance?

How about private flood insurance for businesses in a flood plain? Oh, right, that’s not a viable product when the government gives away payouts free.
Why should they pay to insure themselves when they know FEMA will just sweep in and take care of everything?
Taking responsibility for yourself is so 19th Century!
..... It’s OK as long as Orange County Choppers survived.
And I have news for the businesses, this government will not help you evil profiteering organizations! Eat your peas!
The people in the North are about to find out that when hurricanes hit the South, no one expects Fema to come to the rescue. The myth of the Katrina screech was that FEMA was responsible and able to tend to the city and citizens of New Orleans before Boooosh. That was a lie.
The property owners have to do the work to clean up, the flood insurance pays the bills through their insurance company. But even then, property owners who don’t have cash to begin the process of clean up right away will suffer while the mold grows as the slow wheels of flood insurance turn.
FEMA makes sure it is a worse pain in the ass. If private property owners don’t have flood insurance from the government via an insurance company, they have to incur the total cost of cleaning up and rebuilding themselves. If they can not afford that cost, all is lost and they have to start over.
The city and State and utilities have to be organized ahead of time for the restoration of public property and services to occur and then the States and cities can apply to FEMA for reimbursement which may or may not come for many years.
If anyone waits for FEMA, they will be stuck in mud and disease and waiting forever. They will cause themselves worse economic loss the longer they wait. Employees are best off if they consider the job loss permanent and immediately look for new work rather than waiting for repair of employer property. Everyone is poorer in the aftermath of flooding.
On more important news, The POTUS diverted funds from FEMA for more important use, His 152nd vacation for the next 3 weeks you know overworked and all that stress.
Mooochele is leaving with her children ahead of mac as he had to delay his flight 10 minutes.
He certainly isn’t a role model for hard-working black men.
