Imagination is the key tool missing in the political arena.
Immigration policy, especially, suffers from a lack of creative solutions and imagined possibilities for a better future, not just for immigrants but for all of us. The undocumented population recently was estimated at approximately 12 million. However, no one knows for sure how many there are in the United States. By definition, the undocumented are unrepresented in our political process, but also in our census. There is no way to accurately count them. There is no way for them to forcefully represent themselves, their interests or to communicate their political will unless citizens and advocates do it for them.
This lack of imagination is starkly illustrated by recent proposed legislation - for example, the so-called HALT Act, aimed at stripping immigrants of some forms of discretionary relief, as well as overreaching state legislation, which aims to tighten restrictions on noncitizens and their families by making it easier to question, detain and deport them. The alternative (not yet imagined in the minds of legislators or the public) is to address the salient question: How do we utilize the talents of the millions who have been relegated to the shadows? Imagine tapping into the creative energies and ideas of these people, bringing them from the shadows to the forefront of our economy and society, educating and empowering them so they can serve as future leaders and engines of empowerment to others and engines for our teetering economy.

I say the RINO wins.
I say the RINO loses.
I'm rooting for conservatives, which precludes them both.
I don’t know if anyone else has noticed this but I signed up for twitter to keep tabs on a couple of candidates and within an hour I was being followed by RickPerrytruth.
What the hell kind of Obama style intimidation tactic is that?
lol!
That's the first time I have ever seen those three words together. :-P
You got that right! Even when you catch their candidate on video saying something, they still deny it!
How is that better than "We created or saved millions of jobs?"
So do I. You see very little humility anymore. Herman is a good guy. I love to listen to him.
I guess I am looking for something different in a President. I am tired of all the hype.
We need a calming, dead serious person. This next election cycle is going to get really ugly. They are going to have to ignore all the BS and stay focused. It takes maturity and wisdom to do that. One of the things, I might add, that made Reagan special.
LOL, I like that!
Michelle Malkin’s most recent tweet about Perry.
.@JedediahBila Ugh. Would be nice to have a candidate who doesn’t have to perform constant political yoga, wouldn’t it?
True enough. I live just 10 miles from the southern border which means I don't have to go anywhere, they traipse through my yard nightly. I've found my water hose running having been left on by ILLEGALs who filled their water jugs. They pick fruit from my trees and steal the eggs from my chicken coop. Hell, they've even stolen the chickens. They have broken into and slept in my garage, workshop, storage shed and barn and they've tried hot wiring my vehicles. A time was when they would run when spotted but that is no more. They have grown bolder and more dangerous. I hate leaving the home empty when I travel or worse, leaving my wife here alone. So I hire someone to house sit my house or we have someone stay with the Mrs.
My congressman is Duncan Hunter; he is a staunch conservative who knows and understand the needs of people like me. What I don't have but need is a president who will take real steps to secure our southern border. And that man is clearly not Mr. Open Borders Rick Perry.
He’s as much a chameleon as a man can be. The Rick Little of politics.
They think their hero is superman (or woman), but looks like the picture to me, especially when they are so biased and abrasive.
I can now sit back in my comfy chair, let out a deep yawn, and watch the feeding frenzy. Nothing left for me to do.
If the GOP loses this to Obama, they will have to disband, because they will never return to power.
I will tell you this, I would not want to be the person that loses to Obama this election cycle. Egads!
Oh you’re mistaken South40, one of those guys is very Conservative. /s upchuck...
You might enjoy this thread. We’re suddenly environmentally “sensitive”.
