Raleigh, N.C. If there was any question that Rick Perry is the new Republican presidential frontrunner before now, PPPs latest poll of South Carolina confirms it. A week ago, PPP showed Perry jumping to a narrow lead in first-caucus Iowa. Now, he has a double-digit lead in what will likely be the third-voting state. Perry tops with 36% to Mitt Romneys 16%, Michele Bachmanns 13%, Herman Cains 9%, Newt Gingrichs 8%, Ron Pauls 5%, Rick Santorums 4%, and Jon Huntsmans 2%. This is a sea change from when PPP last polled the race in June, with Perry not included. Romney led with 30% to Cains and Gingrichs 15%, Bachmanns 13%, and Pauls 10%.
If Sarah Palin joins the fray, it has no impact on Perrys dominance but a lot on Bachmanns standing. Palin would place third at 10% behind Perry still at 36%, Romney at 13%, followed by Cains 9%, and Bachmann and Gingrich tied at 7%.

Thanks so much for compiling this info! I’ve copied it to my files for future reference.
Sorry, wrong link in the previous iteration.
Okay folks. Perry is not a RINO. He’s just the best Conservative ever. I have been wrong.
Here, here’s the stuff we’ve been supporting for the last decade here. /s
Right?

“And Reagan’s legacy isn’t exactly firewall conservative either.”
He also did a giant amnesty program, and legalized abortion in California (for which he later repented). He appointed Sandra Day O’Conner; he had Bush the 1st as VP.
Not to insult my favorite modern President, but DoughtyOne, there is no perfect candidate. For someone to support Perry (I haven’t issued my endorsement yet, although they are all clamoring ;) ) is not RINO in action.
People are sifting through, deciding who they think the best overall candidate is on any number of levels. For some of them, Palin isn’t it. That doesn’t mean they are liberals.
LOL
Right on Gru.
You forgot the sarc tag, if not, I can say I’m in a pissed off mood already and you might not want to add to it.
You wish! It ain’t going to happen, she going to endorse herself
You and a number of other folks here should read many of my private FReepMails on the topic of Palin. They would reveal to you that you are as far off base on that, as you are with regard to Perry.
Deconstructing Reagan? Really? Good grief.
“While a bunch of politicians have gone to Washington, hat in hand, seeking a bailout, Governor Perry has said we should stimulate the economy with tax cuts and maintain spending discipline, Rick Perry is true to conservative principles even when others think the party needs to go a different direction. I like that about him: he doesn’t care which way the wind blows, he acts on his beliefs.” - Sarah Palin.
I agree, especially when “electability” is on the table. I must say this Palin thing is puzzling. I’m really curious where she is going with all this. I have no doubt she has a plan. I’m interested in seeing what it is.
Based on that post, let me hazard a guess: You are not running for political office in the US.
—Palin is blowing it. People are beginning to cement behind Perry.—
What goal is she blowing?
You know he was talking about Michelle Bachmann, and that post did say she should pull out.
On the other hand, it wasn’t so long ago that some Palin supporters were attacking Bachmann for being a stalking horse for Romney, and saying her supporters were wrong to like her in the race.
So it’s not like some conservatives here haven’t ever been opposed to Bachmann being in the race.
“Now the died in the wool Conservatives here are proud to spout Democrat polls in support of their candidate. Wow.”
And anti-Perry “conservatives” here have had no problem spouting Democrat commentary critizing him. Wow.
Sarc tag????
Don’t you realise DoughyOne gets to determine who is conservative and who isn’t?????
BTW, I AM being sarcastic. But at DoughyOne, not you.
Actually, there are a couple of freepers who have used that exact word. Never got an explanation for why.
Oh yeah, I guess that was mentioned somewhere in that post too. ;)
I have not seen Palin as a true Conservative. Her support for the Law of the Sea Treaty, her support of McCain for re-election, her statements of support for his agenda, her proposed registration of illegal immigrants so they could stay here and work, long ago shot down the idea she was a Conservative.
Well I have to give you credit for consistency and being fair.
