There are regional differences in weather disaster by type. Some times one region is battered harder than another. Then it turns around.
Difference is, we not only pray for you all, but we often volunteer to help with the reconstruction. We never dismiss your weather extremes or minimize your losses. At least nobody I know does.
The last big major outage we had here was an ice storm about two years ago. Some folks up here in NH and Maine were without power for more than a month.
We got a lot of help from Canada with putting the grid back together. Not so much from the feds or our southern neighbors.
Are you serious? Is this like the War Between the States all over again? I can promise you that people in fly over country prayed all of you would be spared a major hurricane (you can thank us, God listened.) If you need help I am sure it will be forthcoming from all over the U.S. Anybody legitimately adversely affected has my prayers and sympathy. Otherwise recognize that sometimes the wind blows, sometimes it rains & floods. Stay in until passes, clean it up and move on. That’s what the rest of us do. The world is snickering at the over the top news coverage.
You guys up north should know if you are going to have a weather related disaster, better make sure it's not during winter, us southerners can't handle the cold very well / S
Blood is thinned out from the heat and humility
Oh please, several people we know work for utilities and are on their way. We routinely send tree removal crews north to the Carolinas for hurricanes. We appreciate same.
But c’mon. A TS/Cat 1 blows into FL, AL, MS, LA or TX and we’re going to yawn, roll over, and go back to sleep until it clears up and then we’ll go clean up our yards and get on with it.
We have gone through a couple of weeks without power after storms and in it’s not pleasant but it’s hardly the end of the world. A minor inconvenience at most. We drag our generators for the refrigerator and fans, drag out the grills, play cards and board games and go to bed with the sun. It’s actually kinda fun :-)
