Send a copy of this entire LA Times editorial to as many people as you can. It lays bare the differences between conservatives (the producers) and LIBERALS (the takers).

This short editorial [a warning] about Gov. Rick Perry comes from the California state media, a state that has flushed it's once touted (9th in the world!) economy down the toilet (yet shouting ever louder to tapped out citizens, "Stand and deliver!") -- about Rick Perry, who has Texas filling up with people fleeing the debilitating/strangulating effects of LIBERAL governance.

The LA Times thoughtfully and concisely sets forth areas that a President ("over regulation, over taxation, over litigation") Rick Perry would focus on to bring prosperity and security back to the country. This piece (with it's snark and dark clouds of warning) shows the sharp divide between socialism and free-market capitalism and the notion that a strong, prosperous America means a safer world.

[CA 2007] "In what is the QUOTE OF THE WEEKEND at the California Republican Party Convention, Texas Governor Rick Perry “CALLS OUT” California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger:

“It’s a sad, sad state of affairs when liberals campaign like Republicans to get elected, and Republicans govern like liberals to be loved…”

Texas GOP Governor Rick Perry CALLS OUT California GOP Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger

******************

On September 7, 2007: Perry gave a speech to California Republicans -- ..........."Here again we see how little faith the Left has in the people. It’s as if the mere mention of God is so compelling that it might influence their atheist friends to start believing in something besides themselves. But whatever happened to reasoned discourse…to children in schools being exposed to different cultures and different faith traditions?

If they are so proud of their secular humanist worldview, why won’t they allow the simple-minded views of the uneducated masses to be lined up next to their philosophy of self…and all its wisdom…and just let the people decide?

And since when did the field of science become the sole purview of left-wing politicians? I don’t know about you, but I’ve heard Al Gore talk about man-made global warming so much that I’m starting to think that his mouth is the leading source of all that supposedly deadly carbon dioxide.

"Virtually every day another scientist leaves the global warming bandwagon. ... But you won't read about that in the press because they have already invested in one side of the story."

[snip]

"The terrorist element in the Middle East hates our way of life. And even with the battle raging in Iraq and Afghanistan, we cannot turn a blind eye to the regime in Iran that would obliterate the only democracy in the Middle East if they had a chance. And it’s no big secret that Iranian arms and know-how are finding their way across the border into Iraq, threatening the lives of our allies and, more importantly, our own fighting men and women."..............

March 2011 Perry: ‘Stand up’ and ‘stop apologizing’......."We need to stop apologizing for celebrating life,” the Republican Texas governor bellowed at the Republican Leadership Conference in a finger-pointing, finger-wagging and, at times, bombastic, speech.

“Stop apologizing” for wanting to stem the tide of the “entitlement mindset,” he boasted.

“Our opponents on the left are never going to like us, so let’s stop trying to curry favor with them,” he said, before imploring the crowd to “stand up. Let’s speak with pride about our values. Let’s stop this American downward spiral.” ................

The ultra leftwing LA Times appears to like Rick Perry. That certainly shouldn’t set off any alarm bells or anything. /s

Given the depth of his loathing for the federal government

This is all they've got, isn't it? The right LOATHES the government!

Nope, sorry, LA Times--just because Perry and many others want the government to WORK and to get off the backs of those who don't want to be restricted by the government, doesn't make one a hater. It just means we don't think government is there to be the central factor in our lives. If you can't tell the difference between desiring government to work well and in its proper proportion and "loathing" then you really shouldn't be in the newspaper business.

In Texas, the governor has never been known for reaching across the aisle

You mean like President I Won?

Great article - makes me even more determined to support Perry!

I can't get over the naivete of liberal journalists. In this case, the writer spells out all of the dastardly principles that Perry upholds! Problem is, those are the exact principles conservative Americans are wanting in their President. The fact that the journalist is so totally blinded by his socialist agenda is just downright hilarious!

I love this: Perry's proposed fixes for the healthcare system would do nothing to slow the growth of healthcare costs or reduce the number of uninsured Americans.

Maybe not. But they also wouldn't make me pay 35% more every year for my existing health policy!

Given the depth of his loathing for the federal government, it’s a little surprising that Texas Gov. Rick Perry

They could have ended the article right there and I’d have to look hard at him as my candidate. I don’t like everything about Rick but he stands for most of the things I think are important.

I can give you the quick and easy Free Republic difference between conservatives and socialists:

Conservative - my particular chosen candidate for the GOP nomination, and other people who support him or her.

Dirty, stinking socialist - any other candidate for the GOP nomination besides the one I support, and any people who support these obvious stinking lowlifes.

Perry believes that the mandate for all Americans to buy health insurance is unconstitutional...

Then how can a mandate for all Americans to fund a private retirement account - Perry's preferred replacement to Social Security - be constitutional?

He wants to reinstate funding for a missile defense shield in Eastern Europe, a pet project of Bush's involving an expensive and unproved technology that generated enormous tension with Russia.

Why should the U.S spend tens of billions of dollars on a missile shield to protect Europe if they won't foot the bill themselves?

Given the depth of his loathing for the federal governmentUSA, it's a little surprising that Texas Gov. Rick PerryBarack Hussein Obama wants to preside over it.....

OK, with that little adjustment, does it still make sense? Same motivation in both cases (at least I'm hoping so, in Perry's case).

Texas Continues To See Influx Of Businesses Relocate From California

Like many businesses, former California residents are happy to reside in the Lone Star State for similar reasons.

“I have no second thoughts, no qualms, no reluctance about what I’ve done and moved to Texas,” said Joe DeInnocentes, a California transplant. “I’m not sure I’d ever go back to California, quite frankly.”

For DeInnocentes, the state economy is stronger here. His whole family is employed, he said. The state’s unemployment rate sits at 8.1 percent compared to California’s 12.3 percent. The national average is 8.7 percent.

“Certainly, California is not a business-friendly state,” said Biff Comte, who is moving his entire corporate headquarters of his home health care business AccentCare to Texas.

Yours is a visionary analysis of a hopefully dying institution that is part of the dying socialistic creed.

These words come from Ludwig von Mises's book "Socialism":

"Capitalism has raised the standard of life among the masses to a level which our ancestors could not have imagined. Interventionism and efforts to introduce Socialism have been working now for some decades to shatter the foundations of the world economic system. We stand on the brink of a precipice which threatens to engulf our civilization. Whether civilized humanity will perish forever or whether the catastrophe will be averted at the eleventh hour and the only possible way of salvation retraced by which we mean the rebuilding of a society based on the unreserved recognition of private property in the means of production is a question which concerns the generation destined to act in the coming decades, for it is the ideas behind their actions that will decide it...

"To the masses the catchwords of Socialism sound enticing and the people impetuously desire Socialism because in their infatuation they expect it to bring full salvation and satisfy their longing for revenge. And so they will continue to work for Socialism, helping thereby to bring about the inevitable decline of the civilization which the nations of the West have taken thousands of years to build up. And so we must inevitably drift on to chaos and misery, the darkness of barbarism and annihilation...

"Our whole civilization rests on the fact that men have always succeeded in beating off the attack of the re-distributors. But the idea of re-distribution enjoys great popularity still, even in industrial countries. If we wish to save the world from barbarism we have to conquer Socialism."

The definition of socialism includes central planning of the economy and the redistribution of wealth and income from the rich to those who are less well off. It is the epitomy of good intentions based on complete ignorance and a lack of understanding that results in doing exactly the wrong thing. Taking from the rich to give to the poor results in the progessive impoverishment of everybody and the poorer the person the greater the harm. Proof?

Capitalism
