[CA 2007] "In what is the QUOTE OF THE WEEKEND at the California Republican Party Convention, Texas Governor Rick Perry “CALLS OUT” California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger:

“It’s a sad, sad state of affairs when liberals campaign like Republicans to get elected, and Republicans govern like liberals to be loved…”

Texas GOP Governor Rick Perry CALLS OUT California GOP Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger

******************

On September 7, 2007: Perry gave a speech to California Republicans -- ..........."Here again we see how little faith the Left has in the people. It’s as if the mere mention of God is so compelling that it might influence their atheist friends to start believing in something besides themselves. But whatever happened to reasoned discourse…to children in schools being exposed to different cultures and different faith traditions?

If they are so proud of their secular humanist worldview, why won’t they allow the simple-minded views of the uneducated masses to be lined up next to their philosophy of self…and all its wisdom…and just let the people decide?

And since when did the field of science become the sole purview of left-wing politicians? I don’t know about you, but I’ve heard Al Gore talk about man-made global warming so much that I’m starting to think that his mouth is the leading source of all that supposedly deadly carbon dioxide.

"Virtually every day another scientist leaves the global warming bandwagon. ... But you won't read about that in the press because they have already invested in one side of the story."

[snip]

"The terrorist element in the Middle East hates our way of life. And even with the battle raging in Iraq and Afghanistan, we cannot turn a blind eye to the regime in Iran that would obliterate the only democracy in the Middle East if they had a chance. And it’s no big secret that Iranian arms and know-how are finding their way across the border into Iraq, threatening the lives of our allies and, more importantly, our own fighting men and women."..............

March 2011 Perry: ‘Stand up’ and ‘stop apologizing’......."We need to stop apologizing for celebrating life,” the Republican Texas governor bellowed at the Republican Leadership Conference in a finger-pointing, finger-wagging and, at times, bombastic, speech.

“Stop apologizing” for wanting to stem the tide of the “entitlement mindset,” he boasted.

“Our opponents on the left are never going to like us, so let’s stop trying to curry favor with them,” he said, before imploring the crowd to “stand up. Let’s speak with pride about our values. Let’s stop this American downward spiral.” ................

Wow, CW!

Your quote from Governor Perry identifies EXACTLY what my concern with him is, that he will be another "Schwarzenegger" -- and CAMPAIGN as a conservative, but GOVERN as a liberal.

Many of us in California allowed Arnold Schwarzenegger to convince us during the campaign that he really **was** a conservative -- because we so desperately WANTED him to be one -- in spite of the many warning signs to the contrary.

But, as it turned out, the Governator's HEART wasn't in it, and as soon as the going got rough for him as a CONSERVATIVE, he punted -- switching over to more "popular" LIBERAL policies, so that he would stay loved.

Once bitten, twice shy.

My gut tells me that Sarah Palin's conservative principles are rock solid, and unchangeable.

I do not (yet) have that same confidence with Rick Perry.
