President Rick Perry?
New York Times ^ | August 25, 2011 | David Brooks

Posted on 08/26/2011 11:16:27 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

………..There have been a slew of polls showing Gov. Rick Perry of Texas surging to double-digit national leads. He leads across demographic groups — among educated Republicans and less-educated ones, among upscale and downscale. Most impressive, he’s winning over the Republican activists who pay the closest attention and wield disproportionate influence with primary voters.

A poll by the conservative political Web sites, The Daily Caller/ConservativeHome, surveys these activists. When asked this week which candidate was most electable, 46 percent named Perry, while only 20 percent named Romney. When asked who would do the best job on the economy, 27 percent said Perry and 14 percent said Romney. When asked who would do the best job controlling Washington spending, 20 percent chose Perry, 17 percent said Representative Paul Ryan (who isn’t running) and only 8 percent chose Romney.

……..Nationally, the events of 2009 and 2010 moved voters to the right. In 2008, Democrats had a 12-point party identification advantage among families earning between $30,000 and $75,000. That advantage is gone, according to a July Pew Research poll. In 2008, Democrats had a 7 percent advantage among white voters under 30. The Republicans now have an 11-point advantage with those young voters, according to the poll.

Within the Republican Party, the rightward shift has been even more vehement. In 2008, roughly 63 percent of primary voters called themselves conservative, according to Public Policy Polling. Now it’s roughly 73 percent. The number of moderate Republicans has withered. The events of 2009 and 2010 also concentrated the Republican mind. It used to be that there were many themes in the Republican hymnal. Now there is only one: Government is too big, and it needs to be brought under control……

“We do not troll Palin threads and make silly statements.”

That is because Sarah is EXTREMELY popular on FR and anyone that does so, on this forum, gets zotted.

Other than the shear volume of posts, there is no definitive way to guage this, but I suspect of the most “frequent” posters, that Sarah Palin is favored by them 10 to 1.

Of course that doesn’t justify Perry being eviscerated all the time by the same material - it just explains it. Let us just say there is a very obvious bias towards Sarah on FR. In 2008 I saw Huckabee receive the same treatment that Perry is getting now. Back then FR was overwhelmed with “Fred Heads.” Fred Thompson could do no wrong, and other candidates for the GOP nomination could do no right....by forum standards then.

There’s every reason to believe that the Governor supported Gardasil because it’s a good vaccine.

I was glad that the Governor also made it easier for parents to opt out of all vaccines by this same Executive Order.

I believe the Governor’s stated position that he thought the vaccine would prevent disease and that he was trying to get private insurances to cover it the same way that Vaccines for Children program covered the vaccine for all the girls on Medicaid and CHIPs and the uninsured.

Why CMA supported Perry’s HPV vaccination order

GOP presidential candidate and Texas Governor Rick Perry is taking a lot of heat from some conservatives for issuing an executive order in 2007 that required middle-school-age girls to be vaccinated for HPV — a sexually transmitted disease that is a main cause for cervical cancer.

Dr. David Stevens, CEO of the Christian Medical Association (CMA), says his group sent a letter to Governor Perry at the time. While remaining neutral, the CMA told him they were not opposed to his mandate, as long it included an easy opt-out for parents — which it did.

“In most states, and Texas is an example, it has to be a mandated vaccine before Medicaid and other children’s programs will cover the cost of the vaccine,” Dr. Stevens explains about his group’s stance. “Of course, the most at-risk populations for getting cervical cancer and sexually-transmitted diseases are those who are impoverished, and therefore, sometimes difficult decisions have to be made to assure that they’re going to get provision for them, while at the same time letting parents who don’t want their kids to participate ... opt out.”

Stevens says Gardasil is an “excellent” vaccination, and he assures that getting it does not mean parents are encouraging their children to be sexually promiscuous.

“Your children may live a moral life and have someone come into their marriage that has HPV; your daughter may be raped by someone who has HPV,” he poses. “And so through no fault of their own, [they may] get exposed to this virus, which can cause serious illness, including cancer.”
Perry has since stated that issuing the order was a mistake — and when the Texas legislature eventually overturned it, he gave his signature of approval.

Our high school graduate level is related to the inner cities and the border. When you look at the figures, it’s like two States, one with high graduation levels and conservative local leadership, and one with dems in charge and a transient population.

Yes!

Inner cities are hell-holes, where lives are destroyed by Democratic Party rule.

Really? You believe the media and establishment are so afraid of Sarah that they pushed Bachmann AND Perry? Why would they fear someone who, according to all accurate poll data, won’t win as many states as Goldwater did vs. Obama?

[Government is too big, and it needs to be brought under control……]

You know CW, I actually feel sorry for whoever becomes the next President. They are going to have a mountain of a job trying to get things back in shape, and people don't have much patience. Many will expect things to change fast, and it won't happen. We have to get rid of those 23 or so dems in the Senate too.

Education results are almost without exception a reflection of the demographics of a state or locality, regardless of funding or policy.

That is your uncomfortable, non-PC factoid of the day.

Accurate poll data?? Have you _ _ _ _ for brains? Who do you think does the polling?

Sarah will mop the floor with the others.

It`s a mixture of hate and fear.

If you believe MSM/Rep est poll data, then perhaps I can interest you in some good swamp lands.
