Approximately 65 million people are likely to be directly impacted by Hurricane Irene as the storm takes aim at the densely populated Eastern Seaboard. Evacuations are underway for high flood risk areas.
Mass transit cancellations, schedule changes and road/bridge closures are occurring throughout the storm warning areas. Please check with local news and Emergency Management Operations to determine the recommendations for your immediate area.

Thanks for the thread. I hope we don’t lose power for 3 days like we did after Isabel. Then it’s Blackberry time.
Yeah, whoever donated that dry air, Thank You Very Much! It’s really knocking Irene down.
Yes. The nor’easter season starts soon as the hurricane season ends, lol. Never a dull moment.
It may be true but who wants to credit Snopes? I’m sure other sources than Snopes could verify that fact.
Probably came from Texas.
Re: TS Don-Texas, according to a friend, is where hurricanes go to die.
102; hot and sunny - all summer
Hmmmmm. Trying hard here. Not coming up with anything. Guess I'll just let your comment speak for its hateful self.
Not at all surprising. Obama leaves tonight, but Michelle wastes more of our money flying out tomorrow. What a racket this getto girl has going for her.
I’ve got tickets for Rhythm and Blues. It will be our first time there. How do we find you?
We’re on the road and have passed two cara
vans
of emergency response teams. We saw generators being moved as well as repair crews. This was on I85 going toward Atlanta. I imagine they’re heasing into the storm.
That’s the whole purpose of these threads!!!
Don’t know about the animals. I read something that there are no shelters in this county that have facilities to take pets.
110o the next two days.
Just a little update: took a visit down to Sandy Hook and Fort Hancock in Jersey - right across from lower Manhattan. Not an ocean swell in sight which is unusual - from my many years living at the Shore. No surfers.
Although there were certainly lots of people leaving the area, there were also many, many people sitting on their front porches as if nothing was happening.
Interesting!
Rhytmn and Roots?
Sunday morning 10:30 in the Dance tent. We’re not on the schedule yet, but they promise me we will be. Regardless, we’re gonna sing.
...It’s lightened up here, time for you know who!!!
(Beer requires plastic Solo cups. )
Beer from plastic cups? I think NOT! Better to drink straight from the glass bottle.
