“Steve’s extraordinary vision and leadership saved Apple”......from Steve.

I never liked him but I respect him and wish him the best.

I don't care about Cook's sexual preferences.

But I can say that when you are a CEO of a large corporation, if you're not strong-willed and sometimes arrogant, you can't be CEO in the first place. Cook has been more or less running Apple on a day-to-day basis for at least 4-5 years, and in my humble opinion, the company will continue to do fine just as long as Apple can continue to foster the spirit of what Jobs has instilled in the company.

Rumor has it...they were going to make Steve go on that TV show “Undercover Boss” and possibly get beaten over the head with a shoe in an IPod sweatshop in China.

I wouldn’t care if he were a closeted gay; but if he is gay publicly, then he shouldn’t take on any other public role: he is doing enough damage with the one he already chose to have.

I hope his time is not painful. He was driven to work. To give it up, he must be in bad shape. Prayers that he’ll find comfort with the Lord.

Maybe he'll get another liver from a Chinese kid while over there.

And take inventory on how many jobs he has outsourced as CEO.

Health issues? Sorry I didn’t read the whole thing...but it seems as though he has been sick a lot.

Prayers for his soul and his body. What profit is there for a man to gain the whole world but lose his soul? God bless you Mr. Jobs. You’re a smart, talented guy...I hope you’ve got the Peace of Christ in your heart.

Mr. Jobs announcement and resignation is likely attributable to his continuing battle with cancer. I hope he achieves some peace and solace in the realization of the superb products that have come to the world under his leadership and vision.

Poor fellow might be fighting cancer again. He will always have a special place in history though. The computers we use to have this dialog are here in large part because of him.

Hope Steve Jobs doesn't suffer from pain, and is able to recover to some extent. My wife has been battling cancer for quite a few years now. I would not wish that on anyone. As my wife was receiving her all-day chemo treatment today (and using her iPad), I stepped out for lunch at a nearby Starbucks. Almost every individual customer was sitting with an Apple product; either a Macbook, iPhone, or iPad. Perhaps 12 customers sipping coffee and typing away on Apple products. Simply amazing, the impact Steve Jobs made on the world today!

Steve Jobs 2005 commencement speech at Stanford University provides insight into his philosophy and is one of the best commencement speeches I've heard.

Last photos I saw of him he had “that look” cancer patients have as things turn downward. He looked pretty bad. I suspect he’s on his way out. Prayers for him and his family...it’s not an easy road to walk.

What a ridiculous gay company but I wish Mr Jobs well and good health and better health. Despite their Apple market cap Exxon is 20x more important worldwide

Note “succession plan.” Remember all the idiots who were clamoring to know what the succession plan will be, assuming Apple didn’t have one. Of COURSE they had one — if they didn’t then any board with an important CEO would be guilty of gross negligence.

Tim Cook’s no surprise though. He’s been running the day-to-day of Apple for a long time.

I dont care who takes over for apple, there will always be doubts and comparisons.

Tim Cook has been acting as CEO for quite a long time already, and nothing's changed. Jobs will still be chairman, able to make sure Apple doesn't lose that unique vision.
