Stephen King is offering an antidote to what he sees as the biases of right-wing radio talk shows by hiring a former Green Party vice presidential candidate to co-host a morning talk show on two stations he owns.
In a rare public appearance, the horror writer held a news conference Tuesday in Bangor, Maine, at the headquarters of his three-station Zone Radio network.
"The Pulse Morning Show" will be co-hosted by 50-year-old Pat LaMarche and 43-year-old Don Cookson, a former television reporter. LaMarche ran for vice president as a member of the Green Party in 2004.
During the news conference King said, "We're a little to the left, but we're right."

I hope that he sees the errors of his way before it is too late. He has made a fortune off of capitalism; yet he rails against it. So very sad.
The more I learn about King the more I wonder how he could have possible written ‘The Stand’.
Here is clue for Mr King,
THE AMERICAN PEOPLE DON'T WANT THAT LEFT WING CRAP NO MORE!!!!
Now Mr. King, If you take my advice I will have spared you and us alot of time, money, and aggravation. So go play the Stephen King Drinking Game!!
King’s gone loony, and it shows in his book.
Duma Key had a few anti-Bush slaps, but “Under the Dome” was insane. Pastors cooking and dealing meth, while the insanely right-wing town boss controls the town and the northeast drug trade. He even has a signed picture of Sarah Palin on his desk.
Of course, the heroes are a disaffected Iraq vet (of course), and a liberal-leaning “republican” newspaper owner/editor and a female pastor of a unitarian-style church.
I’d love to see King try to logically defend his viewpoints and get his ass handed to him.
Steve King....Larry King......horrors!!
He’s a lib loon but I have thoroughly enjoyed his books through the years. It must be his style or something. “The Stand” is the best piece of fiction I have ever picked up and read. If you would like to read a shorter book that is nonetheless very, very good try “Pet Sematary”.
Rush is no doubt shaking in his boots!
I thought the exact same thing! Great minds......
He used to have a nice sports station in Bangor, the only local sports channel in the Bangor area with lots of local broadcast of high school sports and stuff. Now it’s all lib talk but he has still hijacked the Sox, keeping them on his crappy station.
Now if King hosted a show himself, he’d have a shot at getting some ratings. Hiring a Green Party VP candidate? Yeah, whatever you say, Steve.
Thanks for the ping, Psalm.
Kart, here is my analysis of The Stand. It’s a story about what it would be like to be a Christian in a world where there is no God. Can you point to one incident in the novel [haven’t read it; saw the movie] where God supernaturally intervenes in response to prayer/faith? To me, the story is what Christianity looks like to an atheist.
Am I wrong?
I read a number of his early fantasies, but I feel absolutely no urge to re-read them, as I often do with writers that I like.
He has a natural imaginative talent, but I think he has misused it, so it has abandoned him.
“The Pulse” like the horrible novel that he wrote a couple of years ago?
Now here he is pushing others to do that very thing.
Stephen, listen to your Mother!!
Actually, King has always used his own money in support of his causes. It's a considerable saving grace.
***He has made a fortune off of capitalism; yet he rails against it. So very sad.***
How was he before he got half his brains knocked out by being hit by a van while walking?
What? You didn't think it vain of him to put all the bad old "technicians" in Vegas, and the good little mush-heads in Boulder?
That little piece of rationalization, that "techs" are soft headed and easily lead because they'll embrace any worldview as long as it's "firm," has got to be the most asinine piece of conceit in all of American literature.
Besides, read some of his work about the "craft" of writing. His personal work habits come a little too close to "automatic writing" for my tastes.
That is a funny video
Mr King has a perfect right to throw his money away in whatever manner pleases him. We have a perfect right to laugh at him for it.
