DAMN
Thanks TCP
Glad you’re OK...a scary experience.
Material can always be replaced...the human element, not so much. Stay safe! ;)
Well you made me laugh for a minute and a half.
Day is late now but I shall never forget this day. Unbelievable.
I’m glad I’m not the only one. That was my first earthquake, I work in an old warehouse near NAS Pax River. My first thought while feeling the gound shake and watching the overhead lights swaying and flickering amounted to “How many kT was it if we’re feeling it down here.
LP, you simply must read this post if you have not already: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2767906/posts?page=568#568
FT, I have not laughed this hard on FR in a long, long time.
Since the creepy Burger King just got smited (smote?), I’d say my God is right on the job.
There was a mild quake felt in WI last year, but I missed it.
I also missed an awesome meteorite display spring of 2010. It was very close to Earth and appeared to be huge as it rocketed across the WI sky one night. Had I been outside at my usual horse checking time, I would have seen it. But no, that night I went out at a different time and missed the biggest meteor I might ever get the chance to see.
I did go to the UW-Madison geology museum this winter and saw a part of the meteor and they had video of when it went by. Not the same as being there, that’s for sure.

Wonderful accounting of the day.
Thank you for posting that.
I enjoyed it very much!
Thanks for posting the link to Fishtalk’s post. It was priceless.
: )
Well it seems this one was felt from Maine to GA. and points west to OH. My husband and son felt it here in WV on the Ohio River bank. I didn’t feel a thing. With my granddaughter bouncing around the house, who’s going to feel a little ole earthquake. A friend in N.C. called to see if I was okay and I didn’t know what he was talking about. LOL. I miss all the good stuff.
>Thanks...interesting information. Wonder if this will be a one time occurance or more to come?<
There was a 4.2 aftershock just after 8:00 pm. It shook the house a bit, but stopped within a few moments.
Tell her to get to the hospital quick, maybe they can sew them back on
Well thank you very much. And to all else who so flattered.
tis a true story....that’s the part that makes it good.
Then I give it all a boost with my keyboard.
;)
The low clouds prevented our enjoyment of the Persids here. Dang.
Perhaps we can rejoice in Nov 2012 with the meteoric display of the demise of The Obamanation. *Those* are fireworks I don’t want to miss.
I would think the horses are sensitive to earthquakes. Yikes.
“For thus says the Lord of hosts,...
‘Once more in a little while, I am going to shake the heavens and the earth, the sea also and the dry land...... I will shake all the nations .I am going to shake the heavens and the earth. ....I will overthrow the thrones of kingdoms and destroy the power of the kingdoms of the nations.”.......... (Haggai 2:6, 7, 21, 22)
I almost slept through the '71 Sylmar quake. I was seventeen at the time, and you know how teenage boys can sleep.
Isn't it just like Rush to be taking a day off when a major news event happens? I swear, it happens so often, that I get spooked if a substitute host shows up when his show starts.
I don’t know any more about that one in CO than what I saw on GoogleEarth. I was actually watching the hurricane with a plug-in from NOAA when the earthquake happened. Within about two minutes, it showed up on GoogleEarth because I was also running a plug-in from USGS for near real time earthquake reporting. I noticed the one in Colorado from earlier.
SP was fairly bothered. I left for the house from work just afterward. :-)
...later buddy. :-)
1) Thich has absolutely zip, zero, NOTHING to do with earthquakes.
2) The moon today is a waning crescent and it's SEVEN DAYS to the new moon. By your standards, you can blame a quake ANY day of a 28 day lunar month on the moon because we're either "nearing" or "just after" a "new moon syzygy" or a "full moon syzygy."
