SarahPAC: Setting The Record Straight – Wrong & Misleading

Posted on August 22 2011 - 11:33 PM - Posted by:

SarahPAC released the following statement:

Three years ago DC pundits predicted with glee the demise of Sarah Palin’s political career. This past weekend their tune changed, citing false information that she has made a decision and set a date regarding a future campaign. Any professional pundit claiming to have “inside information” regarding Governor Palin’s personal decision is not only wrong but their comments are specifically intended to mislead the American public. These are the same tired establishment political games that fuel the 24-hour news cycle and that all Americans will hopefully reject in 2012, and this is more of the “politics-as-usual” that Sarah Palin has fought against throughout her career.

PS – Kudos to CNN for setting the record straight and including Governor Palin’s own words.

Here is an excerpt from the CNN article by Peter Hamby referenced above:

Here she is, in her own words:

Q: When is a good time? Do you have a timeline?

Palin: I have said that that August/September timeframe is important for logistical and legal reasons to jump in there, but…

Q: So by next month?

Palin: I think that just practically speaking that has to be kind of a drop dead time. Also, in fairness to supporters, who are standing on the timeline, and this is what I have told Todd over and over again, I don’t want to be seen as or perceived as stringing people along, asking supporters, ‘Oh don’t just jump in there on someone else’s bandwagon because I may jump in, so hold off a little bit.’ That is not fair to them. After another month or two goes by, they need to know who it is that they can jump behind. Now more than ever, everybody has got to get involved in this 2012 election. They need to get out there and campaign for their chosen candidates, its all the more reason to hurry up and decide.

A few moments later, there was this exchange:

Q: Will you know by the next time you are here in Iowa whether you will be in, over Labor Day?

Palin: I doubt it. By the next time I am here by September 3? I don’t know if within the next couple of weeks I will be ready for an announcement or not.

Q: So the end of September is no longer a viable deadline?

Palin: No, he was asking about my next visit here on September 3, if I would be ready for an announcement September 3. And I said I don’t know if I would be ready by September 3.

Q: So the end of September would still be your timetable?

Palin: That is still a possibility for a timetable. Yes, definitely.

Off-topic, but the commenter brought it up: So we know he did not have the Spirit of Christ within him in 1988, because a vote for a Democrat, was and still is, a vote for removal of Christ from classroom/public square etc...abortion etc etc etc. So he was not a Christian then.

So, you are of the opinion that there are NO democrats in heaven? That absolutely NO democrats are actually Christians? That all the Catholics who are democrats are not Christians? That no methodist who votes for a democrat can get into Heaven?

Seriously?

I made a mistake. I learned enough about Perry on this thread this night to know I do not want him. Sarah Palin is the only candidate up to the job. And you say she will run and ahe will win.

Yes, although a one-liner in an article about one candidate dismissing claims she is announcing september 3rd suggesting people support an announced candidate, while obviously annoying to supporters, doesn't seem to be as annoying as off-topic attacks on the candidate. Would it have been less disruptive if the 2nd post to this thread have been a 20-sentence attack on Sarah Palin for not making a decision, and attacking her opinions and position on everything from immigration to islam? I would think not -- this was a thread about patience, and about Palin telling people (including her supporters) to stop claiming they KNEW she was running because they had inside knowledge -- Not a thread to bash Palin, or try to recruit to other candidates.

The Caucus rules work very well to allow people of similar mind to discuss their own beliefs and misgivings and fears openly without fear of being attacked or belittled or being dragged off-topic. I think it would be very helpful to supporters of candidates to have threads where they could do the same; clearly many here are upset about having pro-perry folks come in and disrupt their discussion of Palin's plans, so what would the harm be of setting up a CAUCUS for threads like this so people would clearly know what threads to avoid with their other comments?

Still trying to confuse the issue by deliberately attributing a bizarre context to a post which you then wildly exaggerate? You go way far afield of what was said simply to pretend intellectual curiosity. And that is exactly what it is. Pretense. You need to stop it because your MO is becoming extremely obvious.

Because this and Drudge contain all the news that I need. This is the premier conservative web site on the internet. I am not bitching, I am just bringing up the fact that this site is periously close to purging anyone who does not support Sarah Palin. (Or is at least brave enough to say so.)

That is just extreme exaggeration.

So extreme, that it qualifies as lying.

Have you counted the number of pro-Perry articles vs. the number of Pro-Palin?

Next time, don't be so obvious in your deceit.

...this site is periously close to purging anyone who does not support Sarah Palin.

I really need a gif of eyes rolling. Your statement is just flatly untrue, as proven by any Palin thread you care to open. I don't think I've seen a single one over the last two and a half years that didn't attract a swarm of ugly, negative commentary by Palin detractors.

With the recent speculation about her imminent entry into the presidential race, the volume and ferocity of irrational attacks against Palin on this site have gone through the roof.

Jim Robinson has the patience of a saint, in my opinion. It's no secret that he's a big Palin supporter, yet he has allowed not only fair commentary from those in disagreement with Palin, but also the sort of unhinged venom that is normally only uttered by leftist moonbats. If anything, I think he's bent over backward to maintain a hands off policy regarding the commentary here, only zotting the very worst offenders.

Don't support Palin? Feel free to say so. You're in no danger of being "purged", unless you insist on it.

I extend an invitation to all Sarah Palin fans living in perpetual anticipation - in constant angst.

Well, there are a couple of those, but I doubt they even they will capitulate from Palin to Perry, what with his past positions.

A huge weight was lifted...

Then your 'devotion' wasn't based on the correct mindset, if it was a burden to you.

...it's Reality Heights time -- sanity test time.

I used to watch soap operas, but Reality Heights just got much too ingrown.

Oh, and what was your score on the sanity test? Really, we would like to know!

This isn't about her, this is about conservative ascendancy and getting that guy who is destroying our lives, the country and the world shown the exit
Exactly! And that is why we are behind Sarah Palin 100%!

It's great getting behind the guy who is already taking it to Obama and driving the Left insane

Glad your guy finally got on a the right track with Sarah Palin's very effective exposé of Obama and her knack for twisting the panties of leftists, including of course the MSM BIG TIME.

He's following a trail that Palin blazed a year ago.

Cincinatus' Wife, I hope you read all the responses to your post, it will enlighten you tremendously if you do!

Wow! That is very hypocritical being that I watched your backyard gang of Palinista's attack in many other candidates threads;most especially all of the Bachmann name calling and bashing that... is downright shameful.!I don't support anyone at the moment but telling on people and calling them out and telling them to leave a thread does not make your candidate anymore appealing nor reflect well on them.

This very article posted in this thread states Palin herself is trying to END the very innuendo and rumor dates that your Palin ping lists start and promote. Yet ...there will continue to be threads on Sarah Palin's every move as ya'll continue playing self appointed campaign managers.

You have some nerve calling people out on this thread when the very article says to CEASE the rumors and citing dates. If anything you should apologize for calling Bachmann A RINO and spreading liberal hate jobs on her and apologize for promoting Palin with false rumors and dates. It has really gotten out of hand don't you think?

But perhaps a Sarah Palin thread isn’t the best place to do it. It’s kind of a turnoff for me.

What "one-liner"? What I was referring to was a paragraph.

We disagree. Imho, the system established by the owner of this site is working just fine.

I could not disagree more.

Despite the wailing of the liberal trolls and other doom & gloom naysayers, we feel no compelling need to allow them a platform to promote their repugnant and obnoxious propaganda from our forum. Free Republic is not a liberal debating society. We are conservative activists dedicated to defending our rights, defending our constitution, defending our republic and defending our traditional American way of life.

~Jim Robinson

The above has been on the home page of this site since before I joined. It is my understanding that Free Republic is not just a site where its members can participate in discussions. No, it is much more than that.
