For the second time in a week, a flash mob robbed a convenience store in our area. Could it be a new trend in the Washington region?
In the latest incident, 10 women stormed the Shop Express convenience store along Benning Road in northeast Washington at about 3:15 a.m. Thursday.
They loaded up on food, drinks and snacks at different parts of the store.
Some of the women were carrying bags to hold some of the items. Then they all rushed out of the store at the same time without paying.
Employees said that each of the women stole about $60 worth of merchandise.
"Stealing is a very normal thing at convenience stores," one employee said. "It happens every day -- morning, evening, night. But such kind of thing I have never seen before."
Store employees said this was the third such incident at the store in the past couple of weeks, and that if the trend continues, the 24-hour store will have to close at night.
This store is not alone in its flash mob troubles. Last Saturday, a flash mob took over a 7-Eleven in Germantown.
Investigators in Montgomery County said they know who some of the suspects are, but they are hoping people will recognize the others and call police.
these people don’t need “social media” to form....it seems almost natural for these gangs of animals to form up because singularly, they’re cowards....
That photo is the main reason I am investing in precious metals. . . . . . . LEAD
I wonder if Montgomery Counties “incident” (and the somewhat blase attitude of law enforcement) didn’t give a subliminal “okay” to other groups of youth?! Just thinking out loud...
Better yet -- turn the convenience store into a bookstore. You'd never see those @ssholes within a mile of the place.
Indeed. However, they do frequently use various forms of instant communication - cell phones and/or social media sites - to coordinate and time their attacks and, to the extent they do, that presents a very useful opportunity to catch the whole lot rather than having to hunt them down one by one the old fashioned way.
Stores should lock their doors..just admit one or two at a time...
I’m relieved you caught that typo. Since you’re a schoolteacher I figured you put that in there to see if we were awake.
Over at Huffington Post the other day one of the angry libtards posted
” Thats Ignorant “
Two words, three errors.
This behavior is gonna’ create Slurpy deserts...
Hey, they got the signs down-pat. L for loser.
Store that are open at night are going to have to do service through a slitted door.
To only let one or a few in at a time doesn’t stop that one person from holding the door open for their 50 buddies.

A big pump shotgun behind the counter in full display would go a long way towards stopping this crap. When the crowd enters the store, rack a shell. At that point they stop thinking like a group and start thinking about their own individual safety. I guarantee when they hear the sound of a shotgun being cycled they’d flee like rats off a sinking ship.
Take your excellent analysis a couple steps further:
* Businesses will leave the areas where loss rates are too high
* When most retail businesses have left, the poor won’t have anyplace to shop
* The feds will declare another “food and sundry desert”
* Feds will accuse companies of redlining and will prosecute many of them
* Execs will be jailed
* Government subsidies will flow to make sure the inhabitants have continued access to the necessary beverages and smokes
10 years ago we were in a big city in the Russian Far East
When we needed some “stuff”, our hosts were very proud to take us to a small supermarket that had well-stocked shelves- the kind of place most Russians couldn’t dream of entering
There were heavily armed guards at the door - I never forgot that
Who would have thought that we would devolve to being “them” in such a short time ... :-(
Yo bro! How’s that for “hope and change”?
D.C. has seen much worse in the past and will most likely see much worse in the next couple of years. When the burning and shooting starts, we'll wish they were only stealing snacks.
are you kidding? A lor of these stores are staffed by immigrants or students or 2d jobbers lookingot make $8 an hour .... that’s not combat pay!
Who is willing to die to protect shelves of candy, twinkies, white bread, and slurpy machines?
