Gov. Rick Perry talks like George W. Bush but might win like Ronald Reagan.
Last weekends Ames straw poll made for great political theater, but the important action was taking place in South Carolina and New Hampshire, where Texas Gov. Rick Perry kicked off his presidential campaign.
Perry, the straight-talking three-term governor, is bringing to the race a message and biography that couldnt contrast any more starkly with President Obamas.
He grew up in rural Paint Creek, Texas, farming cotton in his early years, and attending the states land-grant university, Texas A&M. Obama went to Harvard Law School, earned his political chops in Chicago, spending much of his early career in academia. Perry has governed a low-tax, low-regulation state at a time when the president has sought to expand governments role in the economy. The Texas governor's blunt advocacy of conservatism and faith-tinged rhetoric couldnt be any different from Obamas nuanced rhetoric and cautious governing style.

Palin was as conservative as they come. Remember, conservatism requires sincerity and courage.
Her record on debt and allowing jobs to be created blew Perry’s out of the water.
Palin was conservative on taxes—she formed her tax policy directly from the Alaska Constitution. Imagine that!
I know Perry is not the ideal conservative, Tea-party, red-meat type candidate.
Lets look at that again:

On this we agree. No problem. But that was not the issue. Please address the issue. Stop dodging the issue.
IF Perry is the nominee, will you support him?
Well, I stated if “a” Romney is elected. And I certainly don’t wish for him or any other Rino to be the candidate, but anybody who thinks it was worth not voting for McCain and next year stay home to not vote for Romney (or any other Rino) is taking their pride over the interest of the country. 0bama is worse than McCain and Romney put together. Ideal, no. But if you didn’t vote for McCain, you essentially voted for 0bama. If you don’t vote for Romney, should he be the nominee, you are doing the same again. If you want a better candidate, you can’t stay on the sidelines and complain about how the media essentially picked our candidate.
To be specific, I don’t care for Romney, but if he’s the nominee, I’m with Palin: A.B.O.: Anybody But Obama!
When you assess the integrity of a politician, what really matters in the end is how good they are at keeping promises.
Let’s make it simple:
RINO = promise breaker.
Conservative = promise keeper.
McLame was doomed from the get-go, by design of the globalists.
Needs to be repeated over and over.
Hence the Tea Party.
>> Jane Wyman divorced him, he was devastated by the divorce!!! <<
OK, I take that one back, to be replaced by:
10. Reagan gave us Sandra D. and Tony K. for the SCOTUS. Much worse than being divorced!
There may be some merit to your 2nd point, but the first doesn’t concern me. People resign their office all the time when they run for another position. She didn’t resign for a moral indiscretion; she resigned because of a quirk in public law that allowed a sitting governor to be sued and having to pay legal defenses out of pocket.
History is on your side with your second point. If Nixon is the only one given a 2nd bite, then she’s fighting an uphill battle.
If Palin has any weakness, it’s the disapproval numbers she gets in every poll. I know that’s the result of an orchestrated media campaign against her for years now, but that isn’t the point. The point is that it will make it that much harder for her to overcome and win the actual presidency.
Romney is a flip-flopping liberal. He doesn’t have a prayer against Obama once the campaign heats up.
Bachmann just isn’t experienced.
Gingrich left 2 deathly ill wives to fend for themselves.
Cain is a rough-around-the-edges, unknown quantity.
Santorum is penniless.
Perry has some weak directions he went with fair trade and with illegals, both of which he has apparently recanted.
Looking at that list, I’d give the nod to Perry. He has money, organization, record, and an electoral pathway to victory.
Are you pooh poohing Perry’s 700 write in votes? How many did Palin get?
No , that is what you will be causing, i am not voting for another damn rino, if you think I will you have heard it if front, hell no, now force the issue and you elect Obummer.

In my original post, I asked that you think with your brain, and not your glands. Sorry, but you were unable to do that. Have a good life.
“Hey, dweeb, I talk like George Bush,...”
I heard a lot of comments like this, from the Dems, ‘Talking like George Bush’ as if this is something to be ashamed of.
Just sickening. Must be new dem talking points.

I said the other day that if I had to I would puke and vote for Willard, but no way will I vote for the amnesty king, etc, etc, out of Texas. Not going to happen, voting for Perry would be just like voting for a taller version of gramnesty. That makes me feel all icky..

Facts not in evidence. Already, we’ve seen Perry’s marginally fair grades while at A & M. But the Kenyan? Nope.
No college records or transcripts or grades or nothing.
Right now Perry is pulling away from Romney: http://www.intrade.com/?request_operation=main&request_type=action&checkHomePage=true
See #90.
I don’t think Perry is the best of bad choices. He has some real strengths. The same for Santorum and Palin.
I liked Pawlenty, and I think those who were trying to paint him as a Rino were a bit over the top. The same with Perry: some conservatives think the only way to advance their candidate is to bash the others.
They’ll regret it some day when, for example, Pawlenty or Bachmann (or both) run for the Wisconsin Senate. They’d be reliable conservative votes in the Senate, but too many conservatives have been busy demonizing them.
If you click on the link the article has some interesting points. Perry has a lot of strengths being a 3 term Gov. of the 2nd most populous state in the Union. We will see how things "shake out". My only concern is that so many Rats cross over to the Pub primaries that we get stuck with Romney and obama wins.
