At a small, exclusive New York City fundraiser Thursday night featuring the likes of Gwyneth Paltrow and movie mogul Harvey Weinstein, Obama compared himself and his agenda to that of Martin Luther King Jr.
And now that King has his own memorial on the Mall I think that we forget when he was alive there was nobody who was more vilified, nobody who was more controversial, nobody who was more despairing at times. There was a decade that followed the great successes of Birmingham and Selma in which he was just struggling, fighting the good fight, and scorned, and many folks angry. But what he understood, what kept him going, was that the arc of moral universe is long but it bends towards justice. But it doesn’t bend on its own. It bends because all of us are putting our hand on the arc and we are bending it in that direction. And it takes time. And it’s hard work. And there are frustrations.

Neither were/are “African Americans”. There’s really no such thing (either you’re an American or you aren’t!). One is anti-American and one was an American Black man.
FWIW I have heard that MLK was a philanderer, and a mean one at that. Not sure it’s a great connection to have for the republicans other than the lineage between his and the conservative cause’s fighting against slavery and prejudice.
Obama isn’t a Muslim either. If he was, he’d be an opponent of gay marriage and abortion.
What a comedown. Two years ago he was comparing himself to GOD.
Obama is more like Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson.
Maybe I’m out of touch, but when Zero compares himself to King, where are the outraged black Americans saying “shut the h*** up, fool!”?
MLK didn’t vote Present. He stood up for his beliefs and it probably cost him his life? Obama doesn’t have any principles and his only game in town is the blame game. MLK is probably looking down from heaven or up from hell saying: Chump you may say you’ve known me, but by God or by Devil your not me or anything that resembles me, not now , not EVER!
