Reid: Tea Party will fade away in time By Michael O'Brien - 08/14/11 11:39 AM ET

The days of the Tea Party's influence on American politics are numbered, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) said this weekend.

The Senate's top Democrat told a home state newspaper that he expects the conservative activist moment's grasp on the GOP to diminish, a bold prediction given the influence that group showed Saturday in Ames, Iowa, where Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.), a Tea Party darling, won an influential presidential straw poll.

"The Tea Party was the result of a terrible economy … I've said that many times, and I believe that," Reid told the Las Vegas Review-Journal in an interview published Sunday.

"That [the Tea Party] will pass. They will lose a number of seats next year," he said.

He is right, but not in the terms he defines. The Tea Party will slowly become the mainstream thinking in America, with the idiotic redistribution idea spewed by Reid and her punk Hussein being the rejected view.

By the way, have any fake journalists in America confronted that old woman Reid with the Steve Wynn audio yet?

Mark Levin has been commenting that there is something wrong with Harry Reid. I don’t mean just his political views, but something is really wrong with him.

I have to agree.

And I will include Nancy “Stretch” Pelosi in there.

It was not in response to a bad economy, Reid. It’s in response to Obamacare and the Dems trashing the economy and our Constitution. This is wishful thinking by Reid.

Another two 4 year cycles of spending malfeasance and it will be the Tea Party vs the Dems with the GOP odd man out. It is kind of important for the GOP to get the message or face extinction.

I seriously doubt this will be the case. I suspect this is wishful thinking on his part, and he is hoping that his word will carry enough weight in the media to “influence” the direction of the Tea Party.

I suspect that as more and more people are becoming aware of the ineptness of the politicians and “the process”, more people will actually associate themselves with the Tea Party. People may not entirely agree with all aspects of the Tea Party platform, but at least a greater percentage of Tea Party representatives are making a principled stand which is not common among typical Republicans or Democrats.

Reid believes in the power of the mainstream media to shape the thoughts and minds of the electorate. While there is a percentage of the electorate who refuse to think for themselves and let the media do it for them, I suspect that more and more people are awakening to the fact that they have been misled by those in power, and see the Tea Party as the only real alternative.

This is good news

Establishment politicians continue to show they don’t understand and underestimate the popular sentiment of the majority

If anything fades away it will be Harry and Vegas.
I used to love going there but not anymore. Not since I found out most of the owners supported Harry.

Sen Weed, er Reid, in another little over a year, your reign as Chief Senate dolt in charge will be over...Were I you, I would consentrate on that point and consider how responsible the faded Tea Party will be in that happening.

Why not do something of a benefit to your party and drive the economy bus that the Great (.) is parading around the mid west in this week...maybe you can carry his bags onto each golf course he probably has set up to visit also.

I find it interesting that when the Tea Party first started, Democrats thought it was just a fad. Now, the words “Tea Party” is on every Democrats lips. It’s only going to grow folks and if the Rinos aren’t careful, it will take over the Republican Party.
