While Texas Gov. Rick Perry has made no formal announcement, he told Time magazine in an interview he wants to run for president.
"I mean I wouldn't be this far into the process. … The issue of, 'is this what I want to do?' was dealt with about 45 days ago in a conversation with my wife," Perry said. "Prior to that, no.
Being the president of the United States was not on my radar screen from the standpoint of something I wanted to do."
Perry added he has a "calmness" in his heart about running.

Perry has also been given strong financial pledges and support from the Oil industry, Heavy industry and just plain rural Americans who can relate strongly to him.
He has all the right stuff.
Congratulations on actually reading the post, obviously she wouldn’t get a vote not to mention she passed in ‘06 but you get my point...

I never said that Perry is a RINO. That is a term I do not use, as what is defined as a RINO actually IS the Republican establishment, and has been for at least a century.
That said, while I agree with you that Perry has the electoral potential against Obama that Reagan had against Carter, I do not put them in the same weight class as conservatives at all. I do not see the same depth or ability or passion. I would be delighted to be proven wrong about his potential, but it will be Perry’s deeds that persuade me. Not recommendations.
I am not a Perry fan, but unless somebody better comes along, I would probably lean toward him.
Paint Creek is north of Abilene in cotton/wheat/oil/cattle country where people work very hard for what they have and, if its a bad year, that might not be a lot. My people are from there, too. No nonsense and tough as nails. That is Perry’s history and background.

Palin's(™) entire game is, "keep 'em guessing". It keeps her in the cat bird seat. My bet is that she will still play her dance of the seven veils as long as she can get away with it and then do it again over an endorsement.
Her relevence drops once she has A) said she will not run, and B)endorsed a candidate.
I would just love to see a photo-op with the Perrys and the Palins together for the opening of Dove Season. In camo and with shotguns.
It would be nice to see Perry pick Cain for a running mate if he wins the nomination.
It’s about time we get the Fair Tax.
“Internals” are not for public consumption. His team has been basing their decision to join the race on what they see in these internal polls. They have also been doing their homework carefully before they commit all that time and money.

I think Sarah Palin is going to do to Rick Perry what she did to Mitt Romney when he announced his run in New Hampshire. If you don’t know how to fight like a girl, get out of the race.
