Obama: Creating jobs must be Washington’s top priority

By: MJ Lee August 6, 2011 06:57 AM EDT

Marking the end of a tumultuous week for Washington and Wall Street, President Barack Obama used his weekly address to urge Congress to focus all of its attention on job creation as soon as it reconvenes in September.

In remarks recorded before the U.S. government saw its credit rating lowered for the first time, Obama called the deficit-reduction agreement Congress passed this week an important step for the country’s long-term economic outlook.

“But in the short term, our urgent mission has to be getting this economy growing faster and creating jobs,” he said. “That’s what’s on people’s minds; that’s what matters to families in this country.”

The Labor Department announced Friday morning that 117,000 jobs were added to the economy in July and that the unemployment rate had slipped to 9.1 percent. Later in the day, speaking at a jobs for veterans event, Obama said his “singular focus” is the economic well-being of the American people.

“We are going to get through this,” he said. “Things will get better. And we’re going to get there together.”

Obama echoed this message in Saturday’s address, saying that the top priority for Washington must be helping Americans find jobs and building a sense of economic security for middle class families.

Just as Democrats and Republicans finally came together to resolve the debt ceiling impasse, the president said the two parties must come together once more to tackle unemployment.

Obama: Creating jobs must be Washington’s top priority

Earlier in his term, Washington's top priority was killing jobs via increased taxes, increased governmental regulation to discourage oil, gas, and coal production, failed stimulus funding misdirected to bolster foreign governments and financial institutions, destruction of the country's health care system, and more. Millions of jobs were lost.

Now, noticing that millions of jobs have been lost, Washington's top priority is creating jobs the Democrats destroyed with the repeated implementation of their failed policies. Is this a great country or what?

Obama: Creating jobs must be Washington’s top priority

Early this week, FoxNews had a compilation of video clippings of Obama saying the same thing in numerous speeches during the last 3 years.

Obama thinks speechifying is governing. It isn't.

Ironically, his press spokesman Jay Carney admitted this week that The Administration/government does NOT create jobs. [Ouch! So much for all those jobs created and saved.

Baloney. This will be quietly "revised" downward in a month...

Now wait a second, Carney says the White House doesn't create jobs..........

And for once, the nosepicker Carney was correct, but this White House certainly has destroyed a hell of a lot of jobs!

Re: Huffington Post video

Even the libs/Dems see a potential election disaster coming. They are trying to warn Obama, get his attention, get him focused. And he seems to keep ignoring them.

I still am of the opinion that, unless there are significant strides to help improve the economy and lower the unemployment, Obama will be forced off the Dem ticket late this year or early next year. Dems don’t want to lose the White House, because they already lost the House and will probably lose the Senate in 2012.

No kidding.
Now the government will be the largest employer.
Immediately, there will be openings for paper sorters, paper folders, paper sorters and paper hangers. Then there will be teachers needed for the upcoming entrepreneurs renaissance “in a marxist setting” courses. Then an expansion of engineers so , more teachers will be needed , for the export market of muslim nations...

Obama is uneducated, economically clueless, of subpar intelligence, and crackling and popping with rage and hatred. However, he is not intentionally destroying the US economy. He is doing it out of ignorance, unquestioned yet misunderstood ideology, and a mind too limited to evaluate facts and circumstances and formulate even a minor course correction.

There is footage, and I wish I had it, of Obama talking about ‘economic stimulus’ very, very early in his term. It depicts a grinning, exuberant Obama talking about how he would spend his nearly one billion ‘stimulus’. He virtually comes right out and says it doesn’t matter what he spends it on. Injecting that much money into the economy in any form will jump start it and ignite a prosperity boom.

The first time I saw it, it was just really, really irritating. Watching an ignorant economic ignoramus spew stupidity about ‘stimulating’ the economy [in all the wrong ways] was no worse than fingernails on a blackboard—back then.

Now it’s terrifying. This is a Keynesian who doesn’t even have a basic grasp of Keynes. Obama honestly did think if he channeled vast sums of borrowed money to, for instance, his union buddies, the economy would take off. When it didn’t, his small mind could fathom but a single reason: he didn’t funnel ***enough*** money to his pet pal/projects.

It is the equivalent of putting a mentally slow second-grader in charge of an aircraft carrier. The kid will be fortunate if the worst he does is steer it in circles. Most likely, he will run it aground and then blame somebody else.

There are still people who think Obama is smart. Such an assessment leaves me thunderstruck. How on earth can anybody watch him for five minutes and not see an AA product so far in over his head only the 24/7 shilling of the MSM is keeping him afloat. If even 5 percent of the MSM turn on him, he will look like a mentally challenged mega-loser in under a week.

Let us pray there is something to save by Nov ‘12. Obama is a wrecking ball in full swing. He needs to be stopped ASAP, for his own good as well as ours.

DC does not create jobs. DC only steps aside and lets business grow and create jobs.

You raise an interesting dilemma for the dems:
How can they possibly field a challenger of their own without turning the race card on themselves?

He has such a hodge-podge of a staff and czars. All the campus radicals of the late 60’s-early 70’s, SDS, Weather underground, SNVCC, Marxists, Leninists, etc. populate his bulging bureaucrazies - they are pervasive and insidious. It is way past Bambi. Way too far out of his or anyone’s control. The evil Valerie Jerrett, born in Iran, and his moronic Voodoo practicing mother-in-law who lives in the WH are said to be two parts of a triumverant with Moochelle-My-Bell which calls all the shots. As Rush has so aptly stated, “We are sooooo screwed.”

I think you give a very accurate assessment.

The only thing I would add is that I believe he is a dupe of those who spoon fed his ideology to him for years, and they are willfully and knowingly malevolent Communists.

They are probably part of Khrushchev’s long term “Will will bury you” project.

Amen to what you said!! Yes, there are those who truly do wish to destroy the USA—among them Soros—and they have backed Obama to the hilt. ‘Dupe’ is the ideal, perfect word to describe him. He imagines he’s so powerful and so ‘in control’, but his strings have been pulled by more powerful and malevolent entities for so long they’re practically worn out.

Yes, by orders of magnitude, Obama is the thrall of far more intelligent forces, and the destruction of the US is their goal. They say the best ‘straw’ is a candidate who doesn’t know he’s a straw; well, the best dupe is the last person alive who will ever guess he is a dupe.

And his name is Obama.
