Obama: Creating jobs must be Washingtons top priority
By: MJ Lee August 6, 2011 06:57 AM EDT
Marking the end of a tumultuous week for Washington and Wall Street, President Barack Obama used his weekly address to urge Congress to focus all of its attention on job creation as soon as it reconvenes in September.
In remarks recorded before the U.S. government saw its credit rating lowered for the first time, Obama called the deficit-reduction agreement Congress passed this week an important step for the countrys long-term economic outlook.
But in the short term, our urgent mission has to be getting this economy growing faster and creating jobs, he said. Thats whats on peoples minds; thats what matters to families in this country.
The Labor Department announced Friday morning that 117,000 jobs were added to the economy in July and that the unemployment rate had slipped to 9.1 percent. Later in the day, speaking at a jobs for veterans event, Obama said his singular focus is the economic well-being of the American people.
We are going to get through this, he said. Things will get better. And were going to get there together.
Obama echoed this message in Saturdays address, saying that the top priority for Washington must be helping Americans find jobs and building a sense of economic security for middle class families.
Just as Democrats and Republicans finally came together to resolve the debt ceiling impasse, the president said the two parties must come together once more to tackle unemployment.

“Jobs, jobs, and jobs” PelosiIdiot is to be found where?
They all fraked us when they solely concentrated on their progressive agenda to wreck this country...all the while touting “jobs are top priority”....moronic idiots. =.=
Is that too much of a sacrifice to guarantee the reelection of a POTUS that even Carter can look down to?
this is hugh!
Mixed messages from the White House...
Are you kidding me? Now, it’s President Downgrade’s top priority to create jobs? What a loser.
Seriously. Obama does not understand basic economics, or, the man is evil.
Take your pick.
Balancing the budget must be the top priority. Obama & Co. have no net ability to produce jobs; they can’t grow the pie except in their imaginations.
You can always tell that your country is in deep kimchi when the government says that IT needs to “create” more jobs. That’s not the way it is supposed to work. The government should never need to “create” more jobs. That’s the private sector’s job. The government needs to provide the environment that will cause the private sector to create more jobs by getting the hell our of the way and keeping its hands off of peoples wallets. Of course, if Karl Marx was still alive, he’d say that I was wrong.
If he focused on golf he would have less time to destroy jobs.
Pray for America

Never were truer words spoken. At yesterdays press briefing, White House spokesman Jay Carney admitted: The White House does not create jobs. As the Examiners senior political columnist Timothy P. Carney (no relation) later noted, conservatives should greet this statement as a true and long-awaited admission of governments limits.

Isn’t this the president who couldn’t wait for America to buy gas from Brazil? He wants new jobs for everybody but Americans.
An unemployed America is an easily-controlled America.
Considering that Obama picked Jeffrey Immelt (the head of G.E. who is shipping jobs overseas to China) as his chairman of the Council on Jobs and Competitiveness....I'll pick evil.
Exactly, his environment is toxic to small businesses which are fundamental in creating jobs.
