Real estate mogul Donald Trump said Friday he'd consider running for president again if the U.S. economy "continues to be bad: and "if the Republicans pick the wrong candidate."
"I would give it very, very serious thought," he told CNBC. "There are so many people wanting me to do it."
The Trump Organization president did not say on which party line he'd run if he didn't like the Republican candidate.
But he said congressional Republicans have a great opportunity to "negotiate a great, great deal, but they cant be weak." He said that any deal to raise the debt ceiling by the Aug. 2 deadline should involve cutting considerable government waste, including repealing the Obama health-care law, which he called "a disaster."
What he doesn't want is a default, he said.
"I dont advocate default," he said. "What I do say is you cant be afraid [of a default]. This is the time to settle the problems of years and years of abuse. This is the time for the Republicans to get the country back on track. The Republicans have the cards, the president does not have the cards."
As he did when he considered a presidential run earlier this year, Trump blamed a lot of the problems in the U.S. economy on "foolish leaders" who allow other countries principally China and the members of OPEC to steal jobs and keep the U.S. over an expensive oil barrel.
"People dont respect us any longer, they dont respect our leaders. With all these foreign countries taking advantage of the U.S., unless somebody addresses that problem were never going to be great again," Trump said.
He also railed against overregulation and federal bureaucrats who, he claims, are "sitting around doing nothing. It's just like featherbedding...It's absolutely sinful."
Trump added, "you have to cut, cut, cut. I see the waste. I do a lot of business with the government and its not fun."
Oh just go away Ross! (I mean Donald)
"Trump part deux"
Too many wives; he is living in adultery along with about 50% of America
Been there, done that.
He was done when he repeatedly used foul language in a public speech.
Donald, stick a fork in yourself, you’re done.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Donald can start by giving us all that incredible information his investigators supposedly dug up on Hussein’s eligibility. Trump’s a clown and his shtick is old and tired.
Oh, great. We get to hear more useful idiot “conservatives” show up on FR and rehash the “this guy has my attention...he’s the only one with the guts to take on Obama” stuff.
It is a sad state of affairs when Obama can make you look like a thin skinned elitist with no management skills.
Not only that, do you suppose he could have a problem with bimbo eruptions?
OMG! no no no no no !
Perry and or Palin and no more, enough is enough. We need to pick our candidate and stop this endless second guessing.
If we were really serious about saving government money we’d nominate Rudy. We’d get a two for one. President and First Lady all in one package.
The Trojan Trump is at the gate. Ready to roll in as Mr. Third Party—after having duped a dangerous number of people to believe that he is motivated against Obama, rather than as the guy who will let him win with 43% of the vote.
I don’t think we need President Combover. Besides, he’ll never release his financials as he promised. The guy is a buffoon.
Yup, that was the exact moment he flamed out. I'm guessing he was a little lit up, but that is no excuse for giving public speeches calling people mother*******.
If you think the Democrat’s plans for taxes are bad, wait until The Donald shows you how he plans to solve our debt crisis through the use of ‘eminent domain’ over your bank account.
“if the Republicans pick the wrong candidate”
i.e. someone that would beat Bummer. Yeah, we get your Perot game Donny. You’ll be handsomely rewarded for this treachery, I’m sure.
bump.
I’d rather have someone speak from the heart than scripted tele talk. ‘My muslim faith and 57 states’ spoke by a US president is more offensive to me as an American than hearing mother*******
