Actually, a very small island like that should be easy to defend, so long as the need for defense is given due consideration.
What I was responding to is the reported ninety minute delay after law enforcement became aware of the island attack.
I do not know Norway’s emergency response structure, I would hope it is similar to Sweden, but would not presume so.
Ninety minutes is an eternity in such a situation, any country on earth should be able to summon a response faster than that.
From what I observe, the more “primitive” the society the faster their response to a similar attack would be.
In our overly “Civilized” society we have too many chiefs required to grant permission, hand out the weapons, coordinate the response, consult with lawyers, prepare the press release, etc.
In the “backward” regions a camp staffer would have just shot the SOB as soon as his intent became clear.
Or maybe one of the kids themselves, in some parts of the world that is still a possibility!
