In my referenced source, Gov. Chris Christie of NJ met recently in Manhattan with some business tycoons who were trying to persuade him to run. The next to the last paragraph states that several said that "they are Republicans, but voted for Barack Obama in 2008 because they disagreed with having Sarah Palin on the GOP ticket."
What is frickin' wrong with people? Has this nation gone nuts. I know a college-graduate banker who voted for Obama because he did not like the way Sarah Palin said: "You betcha."

I was a member back in the mid-90s. I thought I might find some kindred spirits there (I was actually hoping to meet my next girlfriend) but they weren't my cup of tea.
The membership was almost entirely newly minted attorneys looking to get into politics. I was a mere salesman and was looked at with some disdain or at best wonderment. The two woman members could've been democrats apart from their position on taxes.
The organization fell apart due to the creepy shenanigans of its president. It's most certainly an entirely different operation now.
Well, if Medved did say that (not doubting you, BTW) then he is a f###ing idiot.
That was quite a leap.
He was talking about “tycoons” who use the government to stifle competition, ie, fascism,
and you leaped to call him an anti-capitalist commie!
“Mclame had so many major mistakes, it has to make one wonder where they intentional.”
Intentional? No way! The guy has a huge, huge ego. He was going for a win. The problem is that he was arrogant - he thought his biography alone would win it for him.
Outnumbered: Chronicles of a Manhattan Conservative
While working for a mail order catalog I took a call from a guy who only wanted to know "What's your best-seller . . . what's your best seller?" I've never been one to follow the herd so this was a revelation to me. His sole criteria in making purchase decisions was basically "what's every one else buying."
I guess this is also how they vote. Those eve of election day polls must mean everything to them. Blech!
A few months ago the Repubs had a joint event with the Young Democrats. Let me tell you, I kinda wished my politics were different because of the Dem females in attendance. But that feeling quickly passed when I spoke to them.
“Manhattan and Washington DC are dead-zones of group think. They are the absolute spiritual centers of American Progressivism. It is unavoidable to anyone living there to drink some of the Kool-Aid.”
Yeah, I figure it’s just piped into all the homes via the water supply.
“I hope that if Obama is reelected that they lose every frickin penny of their money, their wife leaves them for another man, their daughters marry crack-heads and their sons marry crack whores.”
You forgot to mention the southerners amongst us marrying our own brothers or sisters.
You nailed it perfectly. The oozing arrogance of the elites is sickening. I have more hatred for those type of Republicans, than I do for the left -- that's saying a lot :)
Funny, my father always said the people get the representation that they deserve.
Anyone who now says that they voted for Obama because Palin was on the Republican ticket is looking for a way to explain what they now recognize as a mistake without saying “I was wrong”. They do not realize that those three simple words can set you free.
My first reaction was a gag reflex. I have said it before and I will say it again. There is a ruling elitist, country club, Ivy League cabal that runs the Republican party. They would rather get along and be the minority party. They vehemently hated Goldwater. They vehemently hated Reagan. They vehemently hate Palin, Bachmann, Cain, Santorum, but most especially, they hate, abhor and are repulsed by the TEA party because it is so lower class. They hate anything conservative. They gave us Rockefeller, Agnew, Ford, Bush 41, Dole, Bush 43, McCain and every other RINO you can think of. They are trying their damnedest to shove Romney and Huntsman down our throats. Both are no better than snake oil salesmen. To hear that they voted for Obamalamdingdong (read as contributed maximum to his campaign or minimally to none for McCain/Palin), should be no surprise to any one at Free Republic. It is what we have suspected all along. The question now remains, are what few conservative Republican Freepers going to continue the charade of supporting a party whose upper echelons do everything they can to trample down the common man in the party. Nothing like this happens, to my knowledge, in the DemocRat party. They are so sold out to the leftists in the DemocRat party and now so outnumbered and have been taught from birth to hate anything Republican, that they are as blind and as stupid as.their leaders are. I know it will not make a difference, unless we start now and we tell everyone we know, but we, as a community of conservatives, must change our party affiliation to Independent, Unaffiliated, Libertarian, or something other than Republican. Will it get their attention? Maybe. Will it make them behave as conservatives? When pigs fly over the frozen valleys of Hell. What good will it do? It will send a message to the big donors that there is some dissension in the ranks and somebody better find out why. I cannot register as Conservative in my state (NC) but I did go with Unaffiliated.
Yes, he actually said it. I don’t believe he really means it. But he hates Palin so much he completely throws out all logic and reasoning in his jihad against her. He knows darn well Palin would make a much better president than the current occupant, but he doesn’t have the guts to admit even that. In fact, at least on domestic matters, Palin would top every other Republican contender. She’d do all right on foreign policy as well. We know we’d have a strong military.
The “GOP Tycoon” from NY is probably Donald Trump or some similar RINO.
There are any number of FReepers who have objected to Palin because of her "accent".
Others have been put off by her knowing the words to country songs.
You also hear that a degree from Idaho Univ. is a deal breaker. Or that, because it's a Journalism degree, she's disqualified.
One suspects that these superficial objections are masking a more fundamental -- but unspoken -- objection.
Is it because she's a woman? I don't know.
I’m glad to hear they’re attracting more women.
Nobody ever claimed McCain was smart. He's had ample opportunity to prove otherwise.
I'm not so sure I agree. It's hard to vote for someone who keeps stating that his opponent would make a good president. McCain threw the election.
LOL. That's genuinely funny.
