GOP Tycoons voted for Obama; disagreed with Palin being on GOP Ticket - Vanity
Politico ^ | July 20, 2011 | no dems

Posted on 07/20/2011 7:22:22 AM PDT by no dems

In my referenced source, Gov. Chris Christie of NJ met recently in Manhattan with some business tycoons who were trying to persuade him to run. The next to the last paragraph states that several said that "they are Republicans, but voted for Barack Obama in 2008 because they disagreed with having Sarah Palin on the GOP ticket."

What is frickin' wrong with people? Has this nation gone nuts. I know a college-graduate banker who voted for Obama because he did not like the way Sarah Palin said: "You betcha."

“I don’t think this article is that far off base.” <<<

That’s my point entirely, that don’t you know Politico loved the quote, put it in the article, and thoroughly enjoy watching us stand on our head over it? I agree with you.

Yep, this is true about the money. I am still not sure what ‘virtues’ McCain had :) Still trying to figure that one out. We somehow gave the nomination to the biggest rival of Bush in our party, and he subsequently got destroyed by being identified as Bush’s third term. He is an incompetent boob.

I don’t forsee money issues this time, especially if Perry runs and brings the Texas money with him.

Who the hell cares who some rich bastard in NYC votes for last time around. Their electoral votes are already long lost. I’d rather focus on what voters in Ohio, Florida, Virginia and Nevada are looking for in a candidate.

Exactly, a few rich voters in NY don't matter.

If the GOP needs NY to win the election, it's already lost.

If for some reason NY is leaning GOP it still doesn't matter because that means there is a GOP landslide in the rest of the country (think Reagan in 84).

Progressive Republicans are worse than liberals. We always know what we are getting with liberals. Progressive Republicans say one thing, and do the other, so they can give us more big government and liberal policies than we would get from liberals. They put on airs of intellectualism, but it all boils down to fascism and elitism.

It was because these rich b@stards have been raping this country since Clinton was President and they knew two things. McCain was old as dirt and might die leaving Palin in charge who broke up the corrupt b@astards club in Alaska.

I was at a NEW YORK CITY YOUNG REPUBLICANS CLUB happy hour last week. These people are actually Republicans. One of the females actually said to me with a straight face, "I like Palin's politics, but I hate her voice. It's too screechy."

Ugh!

These are the people who have "made it" and work like hell to protect what they have at the expense of those who want to have.

BTW, it would be interesting to know the percentage of Republicans who voted for Nixon, Ford, Reagan, Bush 1 and 2 and McCain.

Why do so many people, including “so-called” Republicans, hate Sarah Palin? SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP ME UNDERSTAND.

My experience has been these people eventually 'out' themselves as fiscal conservatives and social liberals. Abortion is their litmus test.

Gop voted for Obama? Then they have blood on their hands! They basically spit on Christ when they voted Obama, said they are OK with Obama`s supreme Court picks, they are OK with infanticide etc..

I guess these tycoons have something against women? Either that or this is complete BS designed to elicit The notion that big GOP influences will surely vote for Obama again should SP win the GOP nomination.

It makes no sense that they would not vote for the ex governor of Alaska as VP and instead choose a community organizing “present” voter as President. If that is indeed the case, it's a miracle these people are tycoons since they must fill their executive positions by filtering gender specific names with the deciding factor being a dartboard throw.

You don't have to look at effete college grads, you can look at people like Michael Medved who on his program recently stated Palin was "completely" unqualifed to be president. Not "there are better Republicans." Or "at least she's better than any Democrat." No, "completely unqualified." That means if Palin was elected president, she wouldn't have a clue as what action to take on the economy or anything else.

By that ridiculous statement Medved reveals his utter lack of logic when he darn well knows that, other than immigration, he probably agrees with Palin on about ninety percent of the other issues. Why Palin is "completely" unqualifed when someone like Mitt Romney who implemented an Obama-like health care plan in his home state and believes in AGW is supposedly well-qualified is beyond me.

I agree but that aside who says this is even a true story?

I followed the link and there were no sources for the claim they voted for Obama because Palin was on the ticket.

It’s a Politico story and they are deep in the tank for Ostupid. I say the claim is made up.

Wishy washy Republicans and Independents are the types who will go with whoever has the popular momentum. The only person I see out there who can maintain the momentum necessary to win is Sarah. When she sweeps in with her huge base and the money that comes with it, her “screechy voice” will suddenly become unimportant. Frankly, so far, she is the only person who has been completely vetted and has shown the ability to stand firm and fight back in the face of all attacks. Go Sarah!

The only logical conclusion I can come up with is jealousy. She is a beautiful, competent, hard-working woman with true conservative values. She is everything the feminist movement said a woman could be and for some reason men and women don’t like her.
On a personal note, she is the inspiration for my daughter’s name, which is Sophie. My husband and I were going to name her Sarah, but with a last name of Lee she would have ended up sounding like a loaf of bread.
