House Republican leaders have missed a 36-hour deadline President Obama set during a Thursday meeting for lawmakers to give him a plan to avert a national default.
The deadline came and went Saturday morning without a response from House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio).
Instead, Boehner and House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) plan to move the Cut, Cap and Balance Act on the floor next week, which would require passage of a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution before the debt limit is raised.
A House GOP leadership aide said at noontime Saturday that Boehner and Cantor did not send Obama a revised proposal to raise the debt-limit, as the president requested.

Obama and the Dems are the ones who have submitted absolutely NO budget.
From HotAir,
CBO We dont estimate speeches
..........."HBC Chairman Paul Ryan: We got your re-analysis of the Presidents budget. I wont go back into that. But the President gave a speech on April 13th where he outlined a new budget framework that claims $4 trillion in deficit reduction over 12 years. Have you estimated the budget impact of this framework?
CBO Director Doug Elmendorf: No, Mr. Chairman. We dont estimate speeches. We need much more specificity than was provided in that speech for us to do our analysis."............

I think this is the first time the Reps. are showing a spine, in a long time. You are correct. They don’t have to talk with osama/obama nor do they need his input. The MSM is trying to get out ahead of this collapse but they are finally having a meltdown, also. They can make all the excuses they want. osama/obama can’t crack this one if Boehner & Co. “DO NOTHING”.

Is this some sort of a GOP joke? $111 billion cut in 2012, some future target that will be quickly forgotten and a balanced budget amendment that will get zero Dem votes. And Obama rewarded with authorization to keep right on spending $1.6 trillion a year for the next year and a half. I agree, the 2012 cuts aren't large enough. But the way I read this, if the balanced budget amendment is not passed, Obama doesn't get a single extra penny to spend. The debt limit increase is contingent upon the balanced budget amendment.

I think this is the first time the Reps. are showing a spine, in a long time. Courtesy of the Tea Party, the Tea Party Freshmen and women recently elected to Congress and "We The People" who stood up last November and voted to put an end to socialism and turn this nation back to what our Founders meant for it to be. A Free Republic.

Why is nobody asking him to pass a budget? IT’S THE LAW. How come nobody is talking about that?

Glad to see the “deadline” pass, but Boehner and Cantor remain clueless.
We cannot allow a “balanced budget” ammendment, nor can we allow an increase in the debt limit. If anything we should be lowering it.
You cannot get out of bankruptcy by adding debt.

This is a violation of the law and nobody is calling Obama on it.
EXACTLY. Sorry I did not read your post. That's exactly where the problem is. Nowhere else!!! Nobody in the gop has the courage to ask for what is THE LAW
Obama is the one who should submit a budget.
The gop should just stick to that and says that they will not make ANY move before the dems submit A BUDGET. THAT IS THE LAW. Gop is not supposed to submit anything before the pres and dems do it.
Why are we always the one who are scared and have to "compromise" when it's obvious that THEY are breaking the law?

Unfortunately, Congress acts like it no longer works for or represents us as the Constitution intended.
