Evening Star was there??

Waiting to hear what on earth she has to say...a positive review by her would be a miracle.

1 - FReeper EveningStar was at the "after party" at my specific invitation.
For "The Undefeated" to work, it has to been seen by more than just "true believers" in Governor Palin.
2 - EveningStar is a "he" not a "she." ("Mr." VR gets that a lot, too!)
For MORE about this kind of (understandable) online confusion, see: FReeper names
3 - EveningStar has been "out in the trenches" on L.A. Chapter FReeps with us for over a decade, so gets quite a bit of "grace" from ME.
If YOU are still posting here in 2021, maybe I'll cover YOUR back, too. :)
4 - Evening Star:
- posted what became our "pre-FReep" thread for this event,
- was at the 1 pm showing of "The Undefeated" with his wife, and
- showed up at the "after party" -- even knowing that he would catch Hell for it -- there, and here.
I dare anyone posting on this forum to match that kind of "open-mindedness" towards a subject with whom YOU disagree.
My "faith tradition" believes in REDEMPTION. What about yours?
We are engaged in a SPIRITUAL battle here, so we should EXPECT miracles!
That said, I'll let EveningStar speak for himself. He is NOT (yet) fully on board with Governor Palin, IIRC. ;)

You're a master of the art of understatement.

Yes I thought ES and VR were both of the better sex, my bad!

I would love nothing better than to learn that ES came away singing for Palin. Forgive this cynic, but would have been floored had it happened that way! Would be moved to tears, praising Jesus along the way. Same deal for RINO`s suck,Indy Lindy and the entire anti Palin crowd.

Hoping to be proven wrong, bring on the humble pie and I will eat with joy and gladness!!!SERIOUSLY!!

I to believe in redemption, 2nd chances,3rd and 70x7 like Jesus said (I am around 490 myself) so yes redemption forgiveness is all we have!

I believe in miracles, this would indeed be one. However if a person came away unchanged, I would argue they did NOT have an open mind.

I would not deserve anybody`s back if I was anti Palin.

Hoping to eat humble pie!!! Bring it on!!! :)

Some people may be wondering why I attended a showing of this movie. Well, it's simple, really:

It was playing at only 10 theatres nationwide. One of those theatres was less than 7 miles from our home. The next closest theatre was over 350 miles away in Phoenix. Given this opportunity, it was only right that I give the movie a fair viewing.

Both my wife and I are retired, so we selected an early afternoon weekday showing when most people were working We were thus able to get better seats. For that time of day, the movie was fairly well attended. The theatre was about 1/3 full.

Here, very condensed, are my thoughts on the movie:

My wife and I both found the movie overall to be powerful and well done. It shows Palin at her best. The movie was well edited and quite moving. My wife came away with a new respect for Palin. My overall opinion of Palin remains unchanged. But that discussion is for other threads, OK?

Now, if the movie is going to be edited before its full release, I have some minor suggestions:

There is one major fix that I would suggest, but due to the time and expense involved, I don't think it will be done. In this particular theatre, the musical score was loud and intrusive. It may have been a problem with the way the speakers were balanced. I don't know. However, the movie needs to be re-scored. Right now, the score runs continuously through the entire movie. It was like watching a David Lean film. Any moment I expected Lawrence of Arabia to ride over the horizon on a camel. Just kidding, but the score should be drastically reduced and limited to the more dramatic moments of the movie.

There were also a few occasions where I found myself laughing at some of the symbolic clips – exploding volcanoes, etc. I’m not sure if I was supposed to be laughing.

Still, the overall movie is well done.

As to the theatre audience reaction, they were enthusiastic. During the third act of the movie, they applauded and cheered several times.

RonDog, thank you for inviting me to the after-movie party, and thank you for the kind words. To all those I met there, it was a pleasure. Everyone was extremely gracious to me and I replied in kind. It was past my bedtime, so I couldn’t stay long, but I had a good time.

Wow! That link led to some very disturbing fever-swamps of leftist insanity.
