Obama and GOP to hold dueling press conferences this morning on the pending Obamageddon. The Republicans are set to speak to the press sometime this morning after a closed door caucus meeting featuring a doomsday briefing on debt default.
Obama is set to speak at 11 a.m. EDT.
Hans Nichols of Bloomberg News asks Obama about new GOP plan. Obama says he hasn’t seen it. Obama says if debt ceiling not raised $2.4 trillion you will be gutting programs. Obamageddon!
I just wish one of these news twits would read Baraq’s statement from the Bush years about raising the debt ceiling being a “failure of leadership”
Obama just said the Republicans would vote on some dog and pony show bills before they vote on the real bill
Interesting
“Balanced plan...shared sacrifice.”
Drink!
I never watch it on TV. I follow along on these live threads, thank God that other FReepers are able to stomach that disgusting mess. I will endure the audio playbacks that hosts like Levin will play since it is usually accompanied by some good commentary that helps the "medicine" go down!
“shared sacrifice”
He is not talking about shared squat...
I am yelling at my computer.....
Obama: “Congress has run up their credit card”
What? It was just Congress?
Students and federal workers will have to pay more FRink!
wealthy..........DRINK!
oil company tax breaks
drink!
This guy is touting $1 trillion over 10 years. That works out to $100 billion a year out of almost a $4 trillion annual budget. It is not even a rounding error.
Obama just said the Republicans plan will cut social security
Will reporters ask about “shared sacrifice” of White House staffers getting steep raises last year with many making well over $100k?
Oil Company tax breaks
Corporate Loop holes
He can’t get off the same old, same old tread mill
Between a rock and hard place and on top of a garbage heap...priceless.
Balance budget amendment will result in cutting SS and Medicare. Yes, both programs are unsustainable. The General Fund is paying 51% of Medicare’s costs.
Students? Federal workers? AWESOME!
Little remembered fact:
Apparently, White House Presidential stationery was misprinted at one point under Reagan. Rather that tossing it out and reordering, he would correct it himself (when using it) until the supply was exhausted.
Who knew that even Republicans that are polled want tax increases as part of this deal?
