Some rock-solid Granite State voters for Sarah Palin are carrying a torch for the former Alaskan governor as presidential material — despite the straight-talking reality star’s plummeting popularity in New Hampshire and uncertainty over whether she’ll run — their hopes renewed last weekend as Palin vowed, “I can win a national election.”
Warren Rasmussen, who chairs the New Hampshire chapter of Organizers 4 Palin, said the Newsweek interview confirmed what he’s long believed.
“We have a crew of volunteers, and we’re anxiously awaiting her announcement,” Rasmussen said. “Everything that she’s doing right now leads me to believe she’s in

I’d like Sarah to enter the race. I’ve waited and watched with great anticipation. I believe she must soon at least begin to make a distinction between being “undecided” and “I can’t make up my mind”. As subtle as it may be, being “undecided” in a purposeful way to gain political advantage is totally different than simply not knowing what to do.

You’re right. You can’t do it part time or in between vacations.
I was in Iowa in 2008 for the very early days of the Thompson campaign. Fred was a boring speaker, never have I seen a room so uninspired and tired by the time a candidate got done with their speech. Sarah Palin has energy, great oratory skills, and a more dedicated following than Fred ever did. She’s no FDT.
But by the time he got started conservatives were rubbed raw by more than a year of media propaganda telling us we all had to get behind Guiliani. Tempers were short and suspicion was the order of the day. Fred was a gift horse, but many of us had to examine his mouth minutely. He wasn't pro-life enough for some. He was too old or too Southern for others. He wasn't experienced enough and he was too tainted by association with the “Establishment.” Too many social conservatives turned away and rallied behind the statist twit who put the goober in gubernatorial. Too many ideological conservatives fell for Mitt Romney. (How’d that work out for you NR?) Fred's campaign curled up and died.
It wasn't really a lack of fire in the belly or a lack of organization, although both played a role. Fred's problem was that he came to the race long after the media artillery had pulverized the conservative movement to the point that it was no longer susceptible to a conservative unity candidate. Fiscons had Romney, Socons had the Huckster, and Milcons had McCain. Fred could skim votes from all of them but not enough to become a consensus unity candidate. When he got to the dance most people had already partnered up, so he went home alone (actually with Jerri, which ain't half bad.)
Palin is in quite a different situation. Unless Perry runs (in which case she probably won't) there is no remotely plausible candidate in the race who has a prayer of unifying the conservative movement, or even appealing strongly to any faction. Romney is a nonstarter because of Rombamacare alone. Pawlenty is going nowhere. Bachmann is an obscure backbencher who isn't close to ready for the big leagues, and probably never will be. For now she's the “please God don't let them choose Romney” candidate. It won't last. She isn't going to be the nominee. With either Palin or Perry in the race, she will disappear faster than ribs at a barbecue.
Fred started from scratch, late in the game and tried to fill a void in the field. Unfortunately, the void was already filled by the time he got untracked. That won't happen to Sarah any time soon. And Sarah isn't starting from scratch. She has been the most visible conservative spokesperson for three years now. She has a committed cadre of supporters, something Fred started entirely without. She has the luxury of some time and she seems to be using that time pretty well. She can let the field take shape and then decide whether it needs her or not.
That said, the time for a genuine campaign is fast approaching. Sarah could announce in the fall and still win the nomination, but she needs to start focusing the opposition to Obama now. Conservatives and Republicans are leaderless and incapable of making Obama pay full price for his comprehensive failure. The sooner a serious conservative emerges as the front runner for the Republican nomination, the better. That serious conservative will almost certainly be either Palin or Perry and it's time the two of them sorted it out.
That, after all, is what “Game On” means.
It also keeps the FEC off her back.

There was an article about the premier of "The Undefeated" in Ames, Iowa, where a supporter was asked why he was expending so much energy for a yet unannounced candidate.
IIRC his name was Livingston. Paraphrasing his reply was something like this, "Our job is to hold this piece of ground, we'll get air support or artillery when the time comes...."
Well, if that's not at the heart of any campaign, I don't know what is. We are the ones that have to muster and organize at the local level, do the groundwork, gathering voter lists and contact numbers, all the necessary grunt work to set up and hold bridgeheads in advance. The DNC already has their union thugs and fools mobilized. The TEA Party folks have been playing catch up with amazing speed for the battle ahead and that's a good sign.
I guess the bottom line is that if your candidate, and Palin is mine, has your trust to head our government and be the Commander in Chief, then it should follow that that same trust is necessary during the political campaign and it's run up.
Even if Palin does't declare, the groundwork has to be done to effect the removal of this administration from power. C.S. Lewis had a lot to say about continuing to chop wood and draw water until that day when we are all called to account.
Patience along with preparation is a virtue in all things, but especially in times of peril.
Pardon my correction of your post and my sincerest apologies if you are not one of the ones calling Bachmann,Perry et al, RINO's proclaiming Sarah was THERE first; and various other names.
If the election prospects of your candidate-of-choice-Sarah Palin depend upon what Bachmann,Cain,Perry, Barney Rubble does or does not do, then your candidate-of-choice is a loser who does not have a snowball's chance in Hell anyway.

Maybe so, but that was over thirty years ago. The game has changed. South Carolina and New Hampshire rock in January, and several states roll in early February. By middle of February, the race will be decided. There are primaries only six months away!
