Windy, I’m shocked.
And SOL, all good masochists have a safe word. “you are too much!” is too long. Try “Armegeddon”. I’ll give you a cookie if you’re smart enough to figure out why.
Since you are a glutton for punishment, I figure it was my duty to help. No, don’t thank me. I’m turning over a new leaf...to see if you crawled under it. ;)
Werent you going to rid yourself of me over my anti-McCain statements? I rushed to get a last thread posted last night believing you that you really could do it. Yet I got up today for another day of posting. That is the last time I will believe you.
Your defenses of McCain went over very well last night :)
Sigh... Another day... even after I posted it 5 times and even boldfaced it, you still can’t read very well...Oh well.
Can’t expect much else from your type I suppose. Try that Armegeddon thing though. Really.
“Your defenses of McCain went over very well last night :) “
I know. Most thinking people saw that clearly. In fact, I woke up this morning knowing how much better off the country would be if McCain were president rather than Obama. I know, I know. You prefer Obama...you said that and we all saw it. Bless your heart.
Then after getting a psychic message from Soros, I went out to my shrine and said a few prayers to Goddess and chanted the words before coming on here to share another tender moment with you. The Goddess says I should forgive you because you know no much of anything, so here I am and once again, it seems she is right. ;)
:)
BUMP!
I think I prefer Obama over Romney too! SHHHH , our little secret!
Cool! How about Bill Ayres? Collect the whole set! Who else that FR campaigned against do you support? ;)
Do you think McCain=Obama?
Do you think he would have had a trillion dollar stimulus and given it all to his cronies? Do you think we would have something called McCain care? Do you think he would have grandstanded for weeks that he alone was so gutsy because he killed Osama? Do you think he would have stopped drilling in the gulf? Do you think his justice department would have stopped the Black Panther voting prosecution?
There's a lot more, ad nauseum infinitum....
I don't like McCain one bit, he was never my first, second, third, or even fourth choice to be the GOP nominee, but I really think those who cavalierly claim McCain=Obama are truly borderline crazy.
Was Bill Ayers running for president??
Now I remember Ayers, at the last moment late October McCain Republicans thought they could tern the election around (after already losing it) by talking about Bill Ayers. I remember RNC Hannity pronounced on his radio show that 'it was working'. Didnt work as well as he thought.
Republicans better have a better plan next time and it better not be Romney.
BTW : I have NO love for the Republican party , SHHHH, another secret between friends, please dont 'turn me in' :)
It’s a hypothetical question.
But why do you think it would be SO different? Based on what? There was no difference between Obama and McCain on immigration, cap and trade, and the TARP.
McCain would have folded and yielded to the demands for a stimulus, although maybe not as large.
McCain would have yielded on healthcare of some kind. The proof is he didn’t fight, fight, fight against Obama care, which was a clearly unconstitutional power grab by Obama and his fellow Communists.
Maybe Israel wouldn’t be so at risk by this point; but we would have ground troops in Libya by now.
McCain was a chameleon last year, returning to Arizona and makeing conservative speeches and noises to his erstwhile constitutents, winning reelection, and resuming his Dem ways in the Senate.
The truth is McCain was almost silent when it came to opposing Obama, just like he was in the campaign in 2008. That is because they both have the same handlers.
The only real difference in 2008 is that Obama had a morn dfor VP, and John McCain had a woman who loved this country and was really willing to fight for it.
There is no question in my mind, that although we would not be in the exact same place we are in today with Obama, we would still be on the same road to socialism.
If there was such a difference, McCain would have been fighting hiss heart out for his beloved America against obama, and that did not happen.
Please reread the examples I gave, then critique them. That's the beginning of what would be different.
I'll talk about your examples in another post if we continue, okay? I agree with some of what you say, but have a simple disagreement with those who say they're the same.
McCain had a lot of baggage and bad proposals, but they don't come anywhere near what Obama has done in 2 1/2 years.
Lakeshark, I realize we both do not like McCain.
I gave my take on the stimulus. I can’t speak to the others.
However, McCain would have done damage to different areas in different ways than Obama.
End result: same. Different speed, different angle of attack, same overall result.
We can discuss all we want on the hypotheticals—none of it can be proven. Why fight about a battle that took place 2.5 years ago. What’s done is done.
Let’s close rank and fight the real enemy—
Obama and the Dems, as well as any RINOs that get in the way of fixing our country.
I doubt it would have the same overall result as obama though, and I doubt it's just a slower version of the same direction.
Frankly, what Obama (and his congressional buds) have done is going to be very tough to overcome, very tough to repeal. They are different critters, McCain is an old style reach across the aisle Rockefeller republican, but he isn't an out and out Marxist, nor is he viscerally anti-American. He's pro-life, pro-strong military, has been a budget hawk in the past and is a moderate (and unfortunately, a bit stupid in that way) in most areas. Obama is a radical leftist.
I agree, let's fight Obama, unfortunately, most of the Rabadash ping list seems to want to fight against McCain still (and most strange, against Sarah Palin), and that's my beef.
Your points are well taken.
I see a more sinsiter McCain than you, perhaps that is why I despise the two face. That’s my problem.
We have a petulant child occupying the Oval Office, who just walked out of a budget meeting.
I look forward to working with you to send him back to his Chicago playpen.
Or to Ft. Leavenworth in an orange jumpsuit. Well, I can dream, can’t I?!
I'll try to have the same dream tonight!
A story you'll like: When it was obvious McCain was going to win the GOP nomination, I used to joke (it was better than crying) with friends that we were going to have to go in the voting booth after downing a fifth of Jack Daniels........
I voted against Obama first and foremost, and happily for Sarah Palin (who is not, as Rabadash has repeatedly said, McCain in a skirt).
Here's what the McCain RINO patrol misses. If McCain was president, especially with the 2009 Pelosi Reid congress, when JMCC did amnesty, cap and trade, more stimulus NCLB, more bailouts... many congressional Republicans would feel the need to support him. But with Bush out of office, McCain gone and Obama as POTUS, congressional Rs now feel the need to OPPOSE all that liberal crap.
Doubt me? It was Bush that signed the light bulb ban.
That is why McCain is worse than Obama relating to POTUS office.
He helped Obama how?
Even ff everyone who voted for Chuck Baldwin voted for McCain Obama still would have won.
He helped Obama how?
Even if everyone who voted for Chuck Baldwin voted for McCain, Obama still would have won.
Sooooo that was 3 people? Tops? Now add in the stay at homes. Add in all the other 3rd party and protest/write-ins.
It’s simple math and Ideology does not apply. McCain/Palin were the only realistic chance to beat Obama the day people cast their votes or stayed home. All the primaries and caucui and whatever wannabee also-ran matter not a whit on election day. McCain/Palin vs. Obama/Biden - that was the only possibility... no one else was going to win. No one went into a booth seriously thinking that any other person/s were going to win. If you dispute that, Santa has nice presents for you too.
Because people cast 3rd party/protest/write-in or stayed home rather than vote McCain/Palin, Obama was elected. Do the math. Period. End of argument because there is no argument beyond the facts. And you just read’em. They have been out there for almost 3 years so this isn’t some radical new discovery. ;)
Republicans never had much of a chance in 2008 due to dislike of Republicans, but McCain phoniness , the financial crash and TARP all sealed the fate of that election. Regardless of that I AM GLAD MCCAIN IS NOT PRESIDENT. And if Romney gets the nomination I wont be wishing good thoughts for him either.
Sadly I am not even convinced that Obama will lose to Republicans in 2012 right now. And that is pathetic given his record.
