Unbelievable: TV Reporter Mocks Romney's Mormonism
Commentary ^ | July 7, 2011

Posted on 07/09/2011 6:52:15 PM PDT by T.L.Sink

Polls show there's an anti-Mormon bias among voters - especially Democrats, more than a quarter of whom say they wouldn't vote for a Mormon. But this video of a Memphis Fox affiliate ridiculing Mitt Romney about his religion is a real wake-up call [video]. The whole news segment appears to be about Mormonism and the 2012 election, but skip ahead to the 3:20 mark for the worst of it [video].

I agree, they just have weird beliefs. I know, because I was a member of the Mormon church, converted at age 13 now I’m 54. If they would read the Bible as faithfully as they do the Book of Mormon, and quit thinking that “the Bible is the word of God as far as it is translated correctly.” their 8th Article of Faith.” they would find the truth. They need to read all 26 volumes of “History of the Church”, The many volumes of the Journal of Discourses, to find out the true doctrines that Joseph Smith and Brigham Young taught in the 1st “restored” Church of 1830, and how each prophets aquired their positions. They would find quotes like this by Oliver B. Huntington,in the Young Woman’s Journal, which “was adopted as the official magazine for the Young Ladies Mutual Improvement Association in 1897.”

“The inhabitants of the moon are more of a uniform size than the inhabitants of the earth, being about 6 feet in height. They dress very much like the Quaker style and are quite general in style or the one fashion of dress. They live to be very old; coming generally, near a thousand years. This is the description of them as given by Joseph the Seer, and he could ‘See’ whatever he asked the Father in the name of Jesus to see”

Brigham Young taught that the SUN was inhabited.
Read all here: http://mormoninfo.org/moon-sun-inhabited

And thats just the TIP of the iceburg!
A year ago I started my own research after hearing some weird stuff. Prophets who “divined from God” the information that the sun and moon are inhabited, that God was first a man and then attained the exaulted state of a God. That God came down to earth as a “man” with body parts, to physically conceive Christ with Mary. Oh yes, they believe all this. Needless to say, I left, never to return. It’s a pity that they are so brain washed into believing all this including that thier prophet today Thomas S. Monson is a true prophet of God, even though he was appointed to the office by man and not by God, and they all sustain his as such.
Numbers 12:1-6 When choosing a prophet, God appears to him in a vision or a dream. Mortal man can not appoint a prophet and he can not get it through seccession or by inheritence.

Welcome to FR. And congratulations on seeing the light about Mormonism.

There are several other ex-mo’s here, many who have similar stories to yours (mine is quite similar).

May I ask where you are, faith wise now? Do you attend church? Feel free to send me a private reply if you do not want to discuss it in open forum.

Do you really want a POTUS who puts feelings ahead of facts

Is that because of his liberalism, or his mormonism?

We all know Lib's are ALL about F E E L I N G S..!!

Personally I think the guy is a politician FIRST...a mormon second, and a slimeball third.

I believe it is because of his Mormonism. However his Mormon background of placing feelings over facts would logically lead to his liberalism.

And you are correct, they both rely on feelings.

You wrote:

Most people will tell you that the Mormons they know are well meaning, honest individuals (of course except for Harry Reid) that DO NOT proselytize or mock other religions.

They don't proselytize? What in the world do you think all those nice young Mormon men do for the year that they go abroad? They go door to door and proselytize. It's required of all young Mormon men.

They don't mock other religions? Again, you're wrong. Why are you telling obvious untruths?

Mormons take the records of people who died as Martyrs for their Faith and "convert" them in proxy baptism. Jews who were marched to their deaths in the gas chambers simply because they were Jewish are baptized in death as Mormons. Because their faith wasn't good enough and they need to be saved by Mormons.

Mormons don't mock other faiths? Mormons mock all other faiths.

No matter how many times the Mormon Church promises to stop, they find excuses to lie and continue this vile practice. Gotta put those Jews who were marched to their deaths in their place, you know? They were willing to die for God rather than try to hide their faith, but God's Chosen People aren't good enough for the Mormons.

Sure. What do you want to bet? Disliking someone’s stance on issues is one thing, but disliking them because they are Mormon is another. Stick to the issue.

Joseph Smith is not running for President. Our conversation is about a hit piece on Mitt Romney. I don’t wish to go through a litany of articles that have nothing to do with the subject at hand.

Disliking a candidate’s stance is one thing, but the religion in this case, is far different, and should not be germaine. Stick to the issues and don’t fall for the liberal tactic that is being employed.

Do you think that Romney would attempt to convert the entire country to Mormonism?

Were you a Mormon, and if not, then how did you come by your knowledge of it?

He had already crowned himself “king-of-the-world”

sorry Leonardo...

which meant he already ruled the US as a theocratic dictatorship

(those interfering Christians in Missouri would kept on disobeying him though...refusing to give up their virgin daughters land and possessions to him...He had to send in his Sheriff-of-Nottingham Danites to keep order))

and now Willie Mitty is carrying the torch for him...

Same doctrines...same prophecies...same cult..

- - - - -
I believe that Romney (or any Mormon) will be utilized to its full extent (even in comments by POTUS) as president to convert people to Mormonism and to shore up its image as ‘just another Christian church’ (which it isn’t).

Before Romney ran for president, he met with the then prophet of the Mormon church (Gordon Hinkley) to ask his blessing and approval and from what I can gather, to ask for funding through their non-profit businesses. IMO, Hinkley knew that a Mormon president would do a lot PR wise to stem the huge losses of members that the LDS church has suffered in the last 10-12 years (the internet has a lot to do with that). By the LDS church own admission (they never release actual numbers and keep people who have left the church but don’t go through a name removal process on the records until they would be 110) is at a Zero percent growth rate, which means in actuality they are losing at least 250,000 members OFFICIALLY (name removal which is a huge hassle) per YEAR.

A Mormon president would do a lot to slow that down. Also, Romney has already been seen to be less than honest and would look for opportunities to further Mormonism, especially since he took a temple oath to put the Mormon CHURCH (not Christ, not God) first above all, even the Constitution. Now as a Christian, I put Christ first, but not my church, which is what the LDS do. I took the same oath as Romney, complete with blood oaths.

It is also telling, that the week after Hinkley died, Romney announced he was dropping out of the last race. I suspect he feared he lost his support and it will remain to be seen how much support the new prophet (Thomas Monson) will give him, but I suspect he wouldn’t be running this hard without the approval of his prophet. And before you comment about JFK and the Pope, Mormons have a much different view of their Prophet than Catholics do of the Pope. The LDS prophet is much more involved at a personal level and there is a full expectation of blind obedience and unquestioning following of their prophet.

As for your second question, yes I used to be Mormon(see tagline) for several years. I was a convert as a teenager, moved to Utah, went to BYU, prepared to go on a LDS mission, went through their Temple ceremonies, wore the sacred underwear, almost got married in the LDS temple. I was a devoted, faithful, tithe-paying member of the Mormon church for many years. I ended up leaving when I set out to be a Mormon apologist and to counter the ‘anti-mormons’ and what I found out was devastating, it was my (Mormon) church that lied to me (not the antis) about their history and hid doctrines from me.

I came to Christ about 6 months after I left Mormonism and have never looked back. I am open about the teachings of the LDS and my experiences because I am called to share the truth with Mormons and to warn others about what the LDS church really teaches.

It is germane because it affects his worldview, and his views on processing ‘facts’ and information, and would heavily impact is Presidency.

I suggest reading “When Salt Lake City Calls” by Rocky Hulse if you don’t think that Romney’s religion is a legitimate factor.
