TAMPA, FL (WTSP/CNN) - Most college students pick either male or female when filling out dorm applications, but there's now a third option at the University of South Florida for transgender.
"At least it's some kind of a combination for people might not fit into the two check boxes," USF's P.R.I.D.E. Alliance Vice President Ashley Gunn said.
Some students said they couldn't be happier to hear their friends, their classmates, who are transitioning from one sex to another, have new options to live on campus as USF.
"It means that people won't have to be so afraid to pursue themselves," Gunn said.
This fall, USF will let transgendered students live alone, with a friend, or randomly with someone else.
The most controversial part of this plan is that the university said they're going to give no prior notice to students.
So, for instance, a male student might think that he's living with another male student, when in reality he's living with someone transitioning to be a female.
Some students said it was unacceptable that they wouldn't be notified, and one even said he would be "freaked out by it."

Good Gawd A-mighty, they talk like they are butterflies or something. You cannot transition from one sex to another. You are born one sex or the other unless you are born a hermaphrodite.
The rest are merely people who want to mutilate themselves or practice sick sex. I liked fruits better when they stayed in the closet.

What was the previous arrangement if this is different? And what other possible options are there?
Are the other students allowed to check a box to say that they do not wish to have a mystery roommate who is a tranny?
Think about this.
The univ wants to know if you are a tranny. Armed with this info, they will find a roommate, but will not tell your roommate about it nor ask if this ok with them.
Then, they will sit back and watch the fireworks and lawsuits fly.
And if you complain about the chick with a dick sleeping in your room, you’ll be accused of hate speech....

I don't think I'd be overly comfortable with a roommate who was on its way male->female. Now if it got rid of the dick and did a specatular job of looking like a woman in the shared shower, that's a different matter. Looking is free, and beauty comes in many forms. I wouldn't be interested, but at least it's a consistent visual picture.
Otherwise I'd feel obliged to consider the Crocodile Dundee gender-check thing (grab the ballsack to see if it's male or not).
And then take another shower. (shudder)

Since "transgenderism" is even recognized to be a mental illness by no less than John Hopkins University - which will not perform sex change surgeries any more for that reason - then shouldn't every other extreme mental illness have its own dorm? A dorm for schizophrenics? For multiple personality disorder people? I don't know what modern terminologies there are for various kinds of psychosis but it sure opens the floodgates for even more insanity.
