LAREDO, July 2 - U.S. residents are being advised not to visit Nuevo Laredo this Fourth of July Weekend.
The advisory comes from the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Webb County Sheriffs Office.
Both agencies say they have received credible intelligence from multiple sources indicating that the Zetas Cartel is planning to target U.S. citizens who travel to Nuevo Laredo this weekend.
According to the information we have received, the Zetas are planning a possible surge in criminal activity, such as robberies, extortions, car-jackings and vehicle theft, specifically against U.S. citizens, said DPS Director Steven C. McCraw. We urge U.S. citizens to avoid travel to Nuevo Laredo this weekend if it can be avoided.
In a news release, DPS says there is no indication that these cartel-related criminal activities will occur in Texas. But, the release states, DPS and Webb County Sheriffs Office cannot discount the information received that supports possible crimes against U.S. citizens in Nuevo Laredo and perhaps the surrounding Mexican suburbs.
DPS and local authorities are fully prepared to respond to any criminal activity that occurs within Texas, the news release states.
I had a similar experience in Baltimore in 1990. I asked a cop in McDonalds how to get to the address I had of one of my sick soldier’s family. I was taking them to see their son in the hospital in Ft Dix. The cop looked at the address and said “I have a gun and I wouldn’t go there”. I told him I have a sick soldier and a gun and I’m going.
False teeth,bridge work
I'll never forget how beautiful some of the Mexican girls were.
Also beautiful was the Mexican music.
Yeah those Mexican traveling bands going around with those big assed guitars.
I used to wander all over Nuevo Laredo without a care in the world.
Some of the best places to go eat authentic Mexican fare were almost devoid of gringos since they were off the beaten track. El Rincon Del Viejo and Cabana del Novios were among my favorites.
Never had a problem, even when I was drunk. Mexicans are wonderfully friendly people, especially if you are trying to speak a little of their language.
So sad to see Mexico Linda in this terrible shape.

Years ago, I used to park on the American side, walk over, and shop for silver jewelry, vanilla, and drugs (which required a prescription in the U.S.)
Now, you could hardly pay me to cross the border anywhere.

sorry but Obamas phone dont answer on the 9th hole.
Rome had the right idea. Old Rome had a rule that all Romans were protected no matter where they went. Any foriegn country that dared harmed a citizen was going to be punished harshly.
We keep kissing Meixcos ass over and over. It is time to tell them if they cant keep order on the border, we will do the job for them. And they wont like the result.
You forgot the /sarc tag
It should be obvious that I would not wish harm on Americans. However, I was not being sarcastic in setting forth what I think a response would be if the Mexicans crossed into the U. S. and caused harm. Whatever their flaws we don’t have Woodrow Wilson and “Blackjack” Pershing anymore.
That kinda tweaked me but after reflection I forgive you. I can't speak for the people in Laredo or the Valley but everyone I know stands ready, willing and able to defend our lives and property.
I think you missed your history lesson. Wilson and Pershing were down here to protect the Mexicans from us.
In 1916 Pancho Villa raided the American town of Columbus, New Mexico. Pershing’s expedition in response was punitive. There may have been subsidiary reasons, but the primary purpose was as stated.
