June 27, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Even when confronted with the deaths of 160 million children in the womb simply because they were girls, the father of the modern population control movement doesnt bat an eyelash.
The problem of sex-selective abortion has been receiving increased scrutiny in the media recently, following the release of Maria Hvistendahl’s book Unnatural Selection, which was reviewed last week in the Wall Street Journal.
In that book the author documents the devastation wrought by widespread female gendercide in countries that favor sons over daughters. She also records a discussion about prenatal gendercide with Paul Ehrlich, the author of the 1977 book The Population Bomb, a seminal work in the modern population control movement.
In The Population Bomb, Ehrlich had mentioned sex selection as a potentially effective tool for reducing population, although effective prenatal gender determinators such as ultrasound had not yet been invented.
When recently confronted with his support for sex-selective abortion by Hvistendahl, Ehrlich reportedly expressed his continued support for the practice. Ehlich told Hvistendahl, “it would be a good idea to let people have their choice so that they could have fewer children and could have what they wanted.”
“You can be aborted as a conceptus, you can be killed at birth, or you can be sold into slavery and die in a slum someplace,” he said.
Hvistendahl writes that after she pointed out that the prenatal killing of girls has forced surviving women into even greater suffering, brought about by higher rates of kidnapping, sex trafficking and marriage brokering, Ehrlich agreed but dismissed the statistics as “the old unintended consequences problem.”
Ehrlich also defended the principle behind mass forced sterilization, a concept mentioned in a 1977 book he co-authored entitled “Ecoscience: Population, Resources, Environment,” but dismissed as impracticable.
While Ehrlich says critics have taken much of that book out of context, he told Hvistendahl that the idea of reversing fertility - that is, requiring potential parents to petition the government for permission to override the sterilant - would “solve a lot of the things that disturb people the most.” He also suggested that mass sterilization working in tandem with sex-selection technology would be particularly effective for population control interests.
Notably, the 1977 text was co-authored by the head of President Obama’s Office of Science and Technology Policy, John Holdren, who has faced widespread criticism for the pro-population control content found in the text.
What a sick bastard.

Think the U. N. would even consider calling his actions a crime against humanity? Nope.
That institution is so morally bankrupt, I’m surprised they don’t have sex slaves on staff at the U. N. building.
Oh yes, indeed! Those are the only options. No one ever goes on to live a happy, fulfilling life in freedom. /sick libtard
I agree, let the gender ratio be closer to equal, let the girls live.
But then again, the female gender is the key to population growth, hence why he cynically would call it unintended consequences. An unequal male to female ratio would have a bigger effect on population growth than females outnumbering males. This is an ecological principle, but I feel that it does apply here as well.
All these proponents of population control and killing the unborn are alive. How ironic. Elitist, evil POS’s, the whole lot of them.
That is an assumption, which may not be necessarily valid. There may well *be* 'sex slaves' on staff at the UN, with the US taxpayers footing the bill all unknowing. It would not surprise me in the least...

I suspected the swine flu vaccination craze was to sterilize the population.
I”ve read that where ever UN blue helmets go in the world, rapes, pedophilia and other sex crimes skyrocket. They often commit sex crimes agianst those they’re supposed to be protecting.
We are now living in a sick sick world. As a youngster, reading the Bible, I could never imagine how the end of the system of things would occur.
His words described such horrendous things that I simply could not wrap my head around.
And you know, at 40, I still can’t. Even though I’m seeing it through my very eyes, I simply CANNOT wrap my head around it.
The one thing I call the DEMONcratic party is the party of unintended consequences. Just take a look at Sarah.
They vet her like NO ONE else before, expecting to find a sinner, but only come up with a saint (my expression, NOT calling Sarah a saint).
It seems to be moving at a quicker pace as well. Perhaps because I have involved myself I can now see everything going on, but it seems to be moving ahead much more rapidly.
I never had any of those vaccinations; however, I am 40, well past my birthing time.
I thought Erlich was dead. (Maybe he’s a zombie ...)
Anyway, he can go any time, if he thinks the world is overpopulated.
If the next generation is of equal size but 40% female, the population declines if each girl has 2 kids because it doesn’t replace excess males. From a “population control” perspective, fewer girls results in population decline if even replacement level fertility is reached.
Yeah, we’re on the same page there. Shocked I would not be, to find that out.
They did have problems over in the Chad / Sudan region. I remember that. I believe some of the other African operations in other regions had problems along these lines too, but I don’t remember those reports as clearly.
The U.N. and others love to complain about the U.S. and it’s military all the time, but when they go in, it’s quickly clear that our men and training are far far superior to the men and training they have at their disposal.
Like a great sports team with regard to one respect, our troops make it look easy. It’s not. The U.N. has proven that again and again.

I think demonized is more likely than merely ‘sick.’
Of course, he could be both and more.
Another astute observation or sense, imho.
Thx.
