They should do the same thing with dogs at animal shelters.

I have been advocating an open season day (not necessarily with guns in the suburban/urban areas) on Canada geese for years. It is crazy to have all these giant packages of meat fouling our every walk way. They need culling.
A few Canada geese are charming and nice. A few hundred is a serious nuisance. You can’t use any field for anything; you can’t walk anywhere.

I’d make the homeless catch the things themselves. A little exercise would probably be good for them. Plus, they would have the satisfaction of earning their dinner.

Broiled Breast of Wild Goose
~ 2 - 8lb. geese
~ 3 tsp. grated onion
~ 4 tbsp. grated carrots
~ 2 bay leaves
~ 1/2 tsp. marjoram
~ 1 tsp. sage, crushed
~ 1 tsp salt
~ 1/2 tsp. pepper
~ 2 cups white wine
Carefully remove the breasts from the bone. Remove the skin.
In a large dish, combine the remaining ingredients. Marinate the breasts in the mixture for at least 8 hours. Turning occasionally. Remove the breasts and pat dry.
Place on broiling rack and broil each side for 11 minutes.

The recipients are not going to want wild goose. That is a far cry from chicken nuggets. Seriously, goose, particularly wild goose, does not appeal to most people used to bland, generic processed food.

I find it interesting that NYC has to send the birds to PA to be butchered. I guess it is on more sign of the weakness of NYC to get things done because of regulations or the the Meat Packing district is dead.

Geese to feed homelessI'd like to see that.
But how is a goose going to hold a spoon to feed the homeless?

Will they feed them on a fattening up diet for a few weeks before slaughter? They tend to be a little on the lean side.

One goose egg is equal to two and a half chicken eggs. No difference in taste, scrambled or fried. I have duck eggs that are about 1 and a half the size of chicken eggs. Smoked Canadian goose is excellent.

Goose is very fatty. Bloomberg’s health nazis will never allow this, because it would be like poisoning the homeless.
Just watch — that will be the objection.

Hey, the MSM is great at "wild goose chases"...why not enlist them to help. Put a Palin sticker on those geese and the MSM will chase them till they drop.

A full roast duck hanging in the Vietnamese butcher shop here in town is $19.95. Those homeless folks are gonna be offered some high dollar dinners.
