I guess all of those bulbs I have been hoarding up in my attic with my leftover Y2K rations are now not necessary.

I wonder if bulb manufacturers are privy to the memo?

What gives the federal government the right to dictate what kind of light bulbs we use? Can’t believe I am even asking the question about the federal government and light bulbs!

Skirting federal law by limiting production and purchase to within Texas boundaries also means more factories and jobs.

The measure, sent to Gov. Rick Perry for consideration, lets any incandescent light bulb manufactured in Texas -- and sold in this state -- avoid the authority of the federal government or the repeal of the 2007 energy independence act that starts phasing out some incandescent light bulbs next year.I predict a black market in incandescent light bulbs! I've been stockpiling them for my own use...

If people want to waste money and energy and natural resources, I say let them. Let the market decide.
I have replaced “most” of my bulbs with the energy saving ones. In some cases I don’t want to wait for them to warm up. In most cases I want to save money and energy so you guys can waste it on incandescent bulbs.

I have begin to buy extra bulbs and I'l like some opinions.
Do you have any good experience with a particular brand of lightbulb regarding performance and longevity?
If I am going to stockup - I would rather buy what will last.

BAN the Mercury bulbs!
They are harmful to children and other living things.

The people in the other 49 states will still be interested in getting them. I’d draw up a business plan if I were you.

The way things are going with our new federal overlords we need
to be buying extra kerosene lamps and the fuel to keep them lit.
