Bottom line. This was a New Hampshire debate, but it has serious ramifications for Iowa as well. I have disparaged the idea that Romney is the frontrunner; I continue to think that given the polls no one is the frontrunner. But Romney behaved like a frontrunner tonight, one with confidence and sense of command and with the adroitness to step aside from two major issue challenges (Romneycare, his various views on abortion) he faces. Romney has wisely eschewed the Iowa caucuses this time, leaving as two major competitors there Pawlenty (from next door Minnesota and a genuine religious conservative) and Bachmann (not only from next door Minnesota but also born and raised in Iowa). Presumably they will both be competing not only in the Iowa precinct caucuses, but in the August 13 Iowa Republican straw poll in Ames. I think Bachmann emerged from this debate a more serious competitor and Pawlenty not a stronger one than he was before.

I watched only the last hour or so. Were there any economic questions during the first hour?
Bachmann wins from this analysis; she proved she can hold her own.
Madame President was not there, and only
Gov. Pawlenty supported her.
Winner: Pawlenty.
Losers: RINO-backstabbers Romney and Bachmann-Rollins.
This is all Kabuki theater...we have a one party system...the Washington DC party. The leftwing is in power now...they drive us hard left...when the rightwing comes in they find excuses to keep the gains the left made last time. Remember the promises the GOP made to repeal the lightbulb ban a few short months ago?

I ignored this debate for several reasons:
It was to see, for the most part, if the back benchers in Double A were promoted to Triple A.
The big dogs weren’t there.
And a little dog wasn’t included: NM gov was left off. No idea why, but it wasn’t cool. He’s an announced candidate. I don’t dig this kind of “inside baseball.” He should have been included.
Once I heard how John King made all kinds of noises during the candidate’s answers, I was happy that I spent my evening watching the Tribe knock off the Yanks on ESPN, with a knucklecrunching score of 1-0 for the good guys. ;)
If voting could change the system, it would be illegal.
I was hoping Cain would stand out again, but he didn’t speak with same flair he did in the first debate. Sorta did a Fred Thompson in this one
The GOP candidate will be chosen by some Republicans, some Independents and disgruntled Democrats. That’s the facts. It happens every 4 years. Don’t like it? Take it up with all the open primary states.
Yeah I was disappointed too. Saying we have to understand the real problem for every question got a little old as did enumerating every answer.
John King and CNN were the big losers. He obviously could not even pretend to respect the candidates. The only winner, I thought, was Newt who refused to answer some of his questions.
I came away thinking what a terrible debator Romney was compared to the others.
Yes...it is becoming self evident that a third party is the only way to go. Electing Republicans does nothing about the essential problem of debt and taxes. Let’s stop pretending it does.
Electing the GOP somewhat slows the growth of government, but only somewhat. It’s not good enough anymore. We are going over a cliff.
In 1854 the Republican party became sectional, and soon national in opposition to the passage of the Kansas-Nebraska Act, which opened the West to slavery. Men like Lincoln, Seward, and Fremont said “enough”...something similar has to happen today.
Still looking for a Lincoln or a Reagan. Gotta be out there somewhere.
These guys have set in stone a bunch of rules to benefit each other - hence the one-party ruling class - creating a redoubt impenetrable to third parties.
We must capture one of the parties in the primaries to gain entrance.

What a distraction. Has anyone said what was going on? He was bad enough to listen to when he spoke, but I was really annoyed by the constant sounds while the candidates were speaking.
I had never heard of, let alone seen John King. Probably because I avoid CNN at all cost. What a pompous ass. So typical of the MSM.
I am so tired of the lefties/MSM doing most of the debates. I want to hear what the candidates have to say, not what the moderator thinks.
Men like this are too rare to save us in time, this one's on us.
What we saw on TV was six traveling snake oil salesmen and M.Bachmann, the only viable candidate,of the seven, for President of the United States.
It’s Bachmann and/or Palin in November. Or Palin and/or Bachmann.
The losers at any cost are out early. My view or no view is crazy.
Such a view illustrates ignorance of what can be and what can not be.
The decisions are made within two parties, not 3 or 15
