Yep.

Is that any crazier than discovering that the U.S. Department of Education has a SWAT team that actually kicks in doors in homes?

That entire department need to be eliminated. If it were gone the quality of education in the U.S. would greatly improve and the PC BS would certainly disappear in most of the states. I guess there are a few states where the insanity is in such a terminal stage that it might not completely go away.

I know perfectly well why the mods insist on correct titles. I looked at the title of the article and it matched the title of the post so how was I to know? I guess somebody must have changed it. How would I know that, either?

As far as I’m concerned, there are too many spelling, grammar, and other anal-retentive people on here to suit me. And don’t tell me to “think about it”. I don’t like to be talked down to.

I wonder what the qualifications are for a job at the TSA. I wonder who they are hiring.

I actually know a TSA guy. He got kicked out of the Navy after 16 years because he couldn't lose weight, or pass the test for E5. At least that's what he said was the reason. Either way, my impression of him before he got hired was the same as it is now. Stupid. Sloppy. No self respect. Extraordinarily lazy. But he's just one guy. Not typical, ya think?

They and TSA are a disgrace to this nation.

No, a government and a citizenry that would allow this are a disgrace to this nation.

We are DONE!

This nation will soon be a non-expansionist, non-imperialist mirror image of NAZI Germany (that is, until the global communist regime is established).

Will without action is more useless than action without will.

There is no hope. Find another country if you can.

You are awful preachy. Tell us what you plan to do to stop the government from doing this besides sitting there with coffee and keyboard.

What this incident reminds me of:

Like when the father tried to intervene because the son was mentally disabled, here’s what happened in my family (exact relationships obscured):

Elderly person with known dementia, falls and hurts self at home, with family caregiver asleep in the next room (middle of the night thing).

After hospitalization and release back to home, Adult Protective Services person visits the home to investigate the circumstances of the injury. The recovering victim was frightened of the stranger and was unable to communicate due to dementia and head injury suffered in the fall.

When the family caregiver tried to speak to the investigator about the situation with the fall victim, the investigator told the caregiver to leave the room so that the investigation could proceed without any interference.

Therefore, the victim continued to be frightened and continued not to be able to communicate with the investigator. This suffering went on for awhile, until finally the investigator came to the conclusion that nothing good was coming of this and it was only making life worse for the victim who was being needlessly upset.

Which is what the family caregiver had been trying to say but was not allowed to.

DUH.

From some of the ones I have seen at LAX, it looks like they just went down to the nearest street corner and piled them into a pickup truck.

Affirmative action seems to be a key hiring criterion...that and a need for power over others.

One month after 911 I flew to Vegas. Was outside smoking and saw a TSA worker having a cigarette. I asked her what she did before she was hired at the airport. She said she was a hair stylist. We’ve got dummies providing security for us.

“...this was an “isolated case of bad judgment.”

Isn’t every case of bad judgment isolated when taken alone? Start putting them all together though....

I'd much rather have “bad judgment” from racial profiling than by infringing on the rights of true innocent Americans. If you're a muslim in the USA you should expect to have every one of your orifices inspected every time you try to do anything publicly. FU TSA, FU DHS, FU Bush - you all caved to Marxism.

tsa is the main human contact with the police state americans now have. I think more folks have to deal with this crap than non-criminals do with their local police. There is a continuing push from DHS to keep elevating the ‘authority’ profile of these tsa people, some of whom presumably were recruited from pizza-box employment ads. First they gave them a real metal badge (laughable when you look at what LEO’s and fed agents have to go through), now they are talking about giving them guns and trying to increase their presence in rail and bus, etc.

The way TSA seems set up, if you don’t have video support and a particularly obnoxious situation, you are out of luck. There is no accountability mechanism unless you make a major scene at the time, getting local LEO and federal security director involved, etc.

A realistic person of normal circumstances (e.g. not a plutcrat or a sitting or likely-to-be president of the united states or other high-level position of similar ifluence) knows they aren’t going to change the course of a country of 300 million.

Another way of looking at it - the US is a late-stage republic. Republics that survive without external defeat long enough to to get to this point tend to be replaced by what we would call today brutally repressive police state dictatorships with some mass pogroms thrown in early on to eliminate potential rivals/enemies/anyone rich enough to be worth killing and robbing.

One example that keeps coming to my mind is what happened in Rome during Marius’ and Sulla’s tenures. I believe most of my familiarity with this is from Plutarch’s lives of the 2 men, I could be wrong.

The entire circumstance scares the hell out of me.

http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/nationworld/2013733774_scanners22.html

if you haven’t seen it, it is interesting. The professional comments I have read about the technology do imply that using the full body mass for the dose completely ignores the fact that the radiation is all being deposited in a very very thin area on and just below the skin, unlike conventional medical x-rays. I have never entered one, and no child of mine will. I am avoiding the MMW machines also but mainly due to lack of long-term testing data and the fact that an agency that uses backscatter shouldn’t be trusted on safety of another product. Backscatters actually scare me in terms of what is known about what they do.

I figure TSA/DHS figures it will be 5-10 years before enough cases of stuff show up to start getting media comments, and then gov can stonewall for another 5-10 or so, etc., by which time the US will have turned into such a repressive police state with openly unlimited federal powers and direct control of the medical system, including what diagnoses are avaiable, that the issue will be moot. Even if not, those actively profiting (chertoff) or directing this will have died of old age or be so old as not to be worried about that aspect of things.

I would assume early things to watch for a trend are 1) birth defects of children of male tsa employees who routinely stand in front of the machines (a reported radiation escape point) 2) people who were scanned frequently as children developing conditions related to mutations/radiation issues and 3) people who work directly above the machines, as the test machine cobbled together did apparently irradiate in a direction directly overhead of the machine. If this is true and there is a problem with the machines, #3 is going to be the first one to hit.
