On the day a poll showed Barack Obama owning the failing economic recovery, a CBS News Washington Bureau reporter questioned Michelle Obama's judgment in wearing a $7,000 gown at tonight's state dinner for German Chancellor Angela Merkel, noting that other guests "dressed more modestly."
Writing on Twitter, CBS News reporter Christine Delargy said:
Gowns by Michelle designer Naeem Khan retail avg of $7,000. Good, bad image for Obama in poor economy? Most din guests dressed more modestly 30 minutes ago via Twitter for BlackBerry®
In a previous Tweet, Delargy noted her fashion expertise:
Michelle in Naeem Khan tonight. Wore same designer @ 1st state din for Indian PM. @markknoller has record of everything else. I have fashion about 1 hour ago via Twitter for BlackBerry®

Leave Michelle Alone!!!! All you forgot was the obligatory picture to hammer that point home.

Saw video of her this morning with Mr. Obama greeting Merkel. She looked like she was dressed for a Walmart shopping trip.
She WAS NOT dressed as a first lady.
Mr. Obama looked just fine, decent suit and tie. But Michelle looked like the Thrift store had a sale, and she just grabbed what ever was close.

No I've heard all their lectures, I don't think it's any of their damn business how I spend my money either. She is a hypocrite, no question about it. I know if it were a Republican first lady, they'd be tearing her to shreds.

I agree. There’s so much to fault Obama with, this is kinda small potatoes. I think there’s nothing wrong with the President and First Lady (any of them) making as fine a presentation as they can at events like this. They’re representing the United States, and they don’t need to wear bargain clothes.
It’s not like the gowns cost anything, anyway. They’re loaned by the designer for the publicity.

Michelle thinks she’s Evita Peron.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0d01NpclvlE&feature=related
For those unfamiliar with the play, this song is about Evita explaining to the masses why after campaigning for president on a platform of being a poverty stricken girl for “the poor”, the moment she got in power she suddenly became a fashion plate.
The theme of the play is really about how politicians, no matter what they say, are often just playing the people for control, power, and money. And they are often very, very good at it - to the place where some people never, ever wake up, no matter what the politican does.
Hence this song, for Michelle.

if you check out picture one of three, she's wearing platform heels under the dress.
Bare shoulders is a way to minimize wide shoulders, but bare armpits should never never be displayed during the daylight hours during any business occasion, such as greeting foreign dignitaries

Nice dress. Wasted on her. Great shoulders though--for an inside linebacker.
