The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Department said an intoxicated Milwaukee woman was arrested Saturday after she crashed her vehicle with 11 children inside.
The crash happened just after 2:00 p.m. on I-94 northbound near 10th Street. The Dodge Durango hit the barrier wall and landed on its roof.
Authorities said there were 11 children, between the ages of 2 and 17, inside the vehicle at the time of the crash. The 32-year-old driver is the mother of seven of those children.
Five of the kids were transported to Children's Hospital. Their condition has not been made public. The six children who were not hospitalized were turned over to relatives.
The woman was arrested at the crash site after failing standardized field sobriety tests and admitting she had been drinking alcohol, according to authorities.
In a news release, the sheriff's department said that in addition to OWI charges for causing injury with a child under 16, the department is also seeking charges for Felony Recklessly Endangering Safety, due to the number of occupants exceeding available seating in the vehicle.
The department also cited the danger the woman put the children in while she was intoxicated.
"This is a good example of why I never believe that I've seen everything. This is crazy," said Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke in a news release.

Just guessing, but possibly the half-siblings of her own kids.
she has same last name as grandma. it’s hard for me to imagine that she is divorced with 7 kids and only 32, so i’m guessing all 7 might have some different daddies and perhaps no marriages.
mom has some civil court actions as a defendant. Evictions, money owed. sounds like the children have a hectic life. the address is in an old, perhaps poverty area of Milwaukee.
She deserves to lose her children, permanently.

Risking the lives of other drivers.
This is not someone who deserves to be around children, her own or anyone else’s.
I didn’t even have to look at the picture to know she’s black and one of the welfare queens.

IAS, I hope everyone is okay and the drunk straightens up her life. In the meantime, someone needs to take her keys away......for a long,long time.
