"blasted with dynamite in order to have a basement."
My Granddad had a story about that, except it was for a septic tank and the house ended up with a large boulder (chunk) in one side and out the other.

No, he’s elderly and could sleep through a bomb blast. sigh
Dh is an only child, so we don’t have anyone to go check. However the neighbors know the situation and we are hoping they will check on him and call us if anything is wrong.
We figure no news is good news, for the moment anyway.

It is my understanding that much of the area has a type of red clay that is heck on basement walls. You can dig a basement but the preparation will cost you dearly.

I know some dont really believe in what Im about to say, but it looks like GOD is REALLLLLLLLLL pod at this country!Bull. Natural disasters happen and they always have. Only those with zero sense of history think this is anything new.

A cement safe room on a slab, will still be safe if built properly.Yep. Wish I had that here. I'm in a one bedroom 70 year old shotgun shack with no inside rooms or closets at all. Every room or closet is against an outside wall. If we get hit, I don't expect to survive.
Good thing I'm right with the Lord.

Statistics have shown disasters hit America whenever our leaders mess with dividing Israeli land.True. They also show that disasters hit America when our leaders don't mess with dividing Israeli land.

LOL! Well the story is probably mostly true. The stuff is only about 1 1/2 to 3 feet down and it’s hard to even dig
out a plot to plant a tree....much less a basement. Very
expensive prospect! :)
