While Washington, D.C., is increasingly consumed with bickering between Democrats and Republicans, the U.S.-Israel relationship remains the one issue that transcends the partisan divide. In a display of this bipartisan spirit, more than half of Congress will attend tonight's Gala Banquet, which will fill a room large enough to fit the Washington Monument on its side.
This year, however, for the first time ever, Hall D/E, as massive as it is, cannot fit all delegates and guests for a sit-down dinner. As a result, all student delegates will be seated in the Ballroom Banquet in Ballrooms A, B and C. Each banquet will feature live and simulcast appearances as well as unique programming. The major speakers tonightIsraeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, House Majority Leader John Boehner and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reidwill appear personally in both banquet halls.
Representatives from more than 65 countriesincluding ambassadors from China, South Africa, Mexico, Turkey and the Netherlandswill be seated at tonight's dinner.
Senators, members of Congress, administration officials, foreign diplomats and other VIPs at the banquets will have their names read during the Roll Call, a lively Policy Conference tradition that has been a crowd favorite for many years. AIPAC National Board members Amy Friedkin and Michael Tuchin will join AIPAC Executive Director Howard Kohr for the Roll Call.
The Gala Banquet will be the end of a full day of Monday programming. The morning kicks off with an address by Reverend Dr. Tony Crisp. After the morning plenary, delegates will head to lobbying workshops, where they will learn from AIPAC's top experts how to make the case for Israel on Capitol Hill tomorrow.
LOL!!!!!
Correspondent now going over tomorrow’s activities-—BOOOOORRRRING!
Chairman of the Board, Mr. Victor now being intro’d/
Bibi up next.
BIBi’s going to speak to the Jewish people not to us I think....Hope he uses a ramrod!
(((((MM)))))
They are blessed!
Sarah Netanyahu!!!!
First Lady of Israel!
With all due respect to Mr. Netanyahu, he was quite the hottie!!!
FWIW, several years ago I tuned in to the Rush Limbaugh show in mid-program and heard a man discussing the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. I could tell he was Israeli from his accent, but had no idea who was speaking. Whoever he was, he seemed to ooze wisdom and was absolutely captivating. I was completely enthralled by this unknown man. At the end of the segment, Rush thanked Mr. Netanyahu for taking the time to join the show. I wish this nation could be so lucky as to have a man of Netanyahu’s caliber as President.
Great!
His whole speech was lame.
I noticed it’s been off all evening. But, I’m not sure that it is always right though.
aaahhh the chairman of the board. he’s gonna intro bibi yeah!! he just intro’d mrs bibi!
Nita got Fauxbama’s memo...focusing like a laser on jobs. Blah, blah.
Boehner drinking? Imagine that!
Plenty of time!
He’s about to speak!!!
bwahahah...Okay, he's forgiven.
Kevin Pollak is the Chairman of the Board?
May God bless you with a kind heart.
Ya. thnk it’s on satellite to Israel.
Boehner did make a certain impression. “That boy ain’t right,” sums it up for me.
It’s his usual impression.
I must honestly say...Harry Reid’s speech was the best one I’ve ever heard him give. He’s still a weasel but tonite his remarks were quite eloquent and they appeared to come easily. His references to Entebbe and Ethiopia were particulary poignant.
David Victor, Chairman, now talking about the instabilty surrounding Israel.
Setting the table for Bibi.
