While Washington, D.C., is increasingly consumed with bickering between Democrats and Republicans, the U.S.-Israel relationship remains the one issue that transcends the partisan divide. In a display of this bipartisan spirit, more than half of Congress will attend tonight's Gala Banquet, which will fill a room large enough to fit the Washington Monument on its side.
This year, however, for the first time ever, Hall D/E, as massive as it is, cannot fit all delegates and guests for a sit-down dinner. As a result, all student delegates will be seated in the Ballroom Banquet in Ballrooms A, B and C. Each banquet will feature live and simulcast appearances as well as unique programming. The major speakers tonightIsraeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, House Majority Leader John Boehner and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reidwill appear personally in both banquet halls.
Representatives from more than 65 countriesincluding ambassadors from China, South Africa, Mexico, Turkey and the Netherlandswill be seated at tonight's dinner.
Senators, members of Congress, administration officials, foreign diplomats and other VIPs at the banquets will have their names read during the Roll Call, a lively Policy Conference tradition that has been a crowd favorite for many years. AIPAC National Board members Amy Friedkin and Michael Tuchin will join AIPAC Executive Director Howard Kohr for the Roll Call.
The Gala Banquet will be the end of a full day of Monday programming. The morning kicks off with an address by Reverend Dr. Tony Crisp. After the morning plenary, delegates will head to lobbying workshops, where they will learn from AIPAC's top experts how to make the case for Israel on Capitol Hill tomorrow.
RIGHT ON BOTH POINTS...
This is Bibi yesterday in DC. He looks real good there.
Huh? Did Boehner just say Iraq is more than just a democracy “on the make?” Whaddhesay?
bullshit he ain’t...............this is life and death....study the 1949 expectations of dems for Israel
two not connected circles w/ enemies in the middle....no Jerusalem, and double the border attacks
Is it tomorrow that Netanyahu addresses Congress? Do you know if it will be televised, or at what time?
He’s slurring, isn’t he?
Thanks for the thread.
Why is my FR time off? showing 10:24 at 10:12, all across the board. Is anyone else having similar experience?
Im in! but my netbook is out of order so Im doing this on kindle...its hard but lets do it who else out there is in hey people
Don't listen to that Putz Reid, I have more interesting conversations with my cats.
Oooh, I thought I would miss him, but he hasn’t even been introduced, yet.
Yay—I’m actually in time! ;^)
nothing
Lot’s of slurring.
Does he have the hiccups?
amen..........in God’s defense, now is yesterday
As I said, I don’t think BiBi’s going to show his hand too soon...he has congress to address where it counts. He’ll give a good speach though...he can’t help it.
Oh Gosh....Boehner couldn’t even pronounce BiBi’s name right...is he drinking or something?
They're saving it for Bibi!
He’s having a real hard time with this...I kind of doubt he’s “nervous”.
Man, he got off the stage quick.
The FReep clock is in the future.
The BHO machine depended on its prowess to wind out the time and their certainty that once a politician gets the stage, i.e., Boehner, he is not going to selflessly give it up for a higher cause.
Moreover, I don’t think Boehner has any idea what just happened tonight.
