Dr Rowan Williams warned that the shooting dead of the unarmed al-Qaeda leader meant justice was not "seen to be done".
The differing accounts of the American special forces' operation which have emerged from the White House since Monday "have not helped", he said.
At a press conference at Lambeth Palace, The Daily Telegraph asked Dr Williams whether he thought the US had been right to kill bin Laden.
After declining to respond initially, he later replied: I think the killing of an unarmed man is always going to leave a very uncomfortable feeling, because it doesnt look as if justice is seen to be done in those circumstances.
I think its also true that the different versions of events that have emerged in recent days have not done a great deal to help here.
I dont know full details any more than anyone else does. But I do believe that in such circumstances when we are faced with someone who was manifestly a war criminal, in terms of the atrocities inflicted, it is important that justice is seen to be observed.
A spokesman for Archbishop Vincent Nichols, the head of the Roman Catholic church in England and Wales, said the church would not be commenting on the killing of the al-Qaeda leader.
Dr Williams' comments came after Barack Obama said images of Osama bin Laden's body will not be released because of fears it would encourage more terror attacks.
Handing out "graphic" images of the corpse of the terrorist mastermind could have dispelled doubts that he is dead, but Mr Obama said he would not release the photographs because it would create a "national security risk".
He said if the pictures were made public they could incite "additional violence"

I’m surprised that Williams didn’t criticize the use of head shots, as with a “ruined” brain, it would be far harder to reanimate Osama in the future, in some bizarre, Druid ritual.
Rowan Williams is a vile evil man.
Has been for a long, long time.
This, coming from the same guy who resigns himself to the “inevitability” of shariah law in the UK.
The bearded Druid has spoken. F*** him and the noxious cave he came from.
Meanwhile, farewell England.
Williams is an ass. He is a faux christian and a purely political animal. Britain went down the Commie poop shoot in the 1890’s, the muzzies took over in the 70’s.
Stick a fork in Britain, she’s done.

RE: Rowan Williams is a vile evil man.
Didn’t he give the spiritual message at the Wedding of William and Kate last week?
Dr Rowan Williams is a pin-head.
Justice was served in the same manner as anyone tied to an electric chair.
The Man was not killed inasmuch as the possibility of this animal ever being able to take another life again.
One must never forsake the safety of many for political correctness of another. He was sick demented animal and I would have gladly pulled the trigger myself.
HA HA HA-Post of the day!
Lol! Post of the day! Perhaps we should have replaced the missing Stonehedge pillar with OBL’s rigid corpse.
He is for Sharia Law in Britain
The Archbishop of Canterbury talks as though he thinks anyone actually cares what he thinks about anything. The man has no intellectual, philosophical, or religious doctrinal conviction that he can sustain for more than a day.
I’d rather hear what Rowan Atkinson (Mr. Bean) had to say .... about anything ... than read Rowan Williams’ brain farts
What a fool!
Dr. Rowan Williams pontificates from the safety and comfort of his parish. If he thinks OBL should have been captured alive, then he should have volunteered to capture him.
We only found out he was unarmed after he was dead. Who would not have expected him to have explosives or weapons nearby? It is much more risky to capture someone alive than to take him out. If anyone justifies being taken out, then certainly it's definitely OBL.
Rowan is living in a country that regularly used drawing and quartering against patriots. I see no reason to listen to him.

That said; how can/why are, Liberals so freaking, Liberal stupid? No question; this ideology, unequivocally, cause brain damage. No other rationale to explain the vacuous stupidity so offered by the Archbishop of Canterbury.
