President Obama invited former President George W. Bush on a visit to Ground Zero on Thursday but Bush has declined, according to two people familiar with the situation.
Obama will travel to the site of the World Trade Center attacks of Sept. 11 in the days following the killing of Osama bin Laden in a U.S. special forces operation in Pakistan. He will meet with families of Sept. 11 victims, according to the Associated Press.
Obama last went to Ground Zero in 2008.
Obama has called Bush everything but a white man, and blamed him for everything but the Wookie’s bad taste in clothes ,and then he has the balls to invite him on a photo-op.
Thank gawd Bush has too much class to accept.
Went to the web site and had a fruedian dyslexic read of
President Obama invited former President George W. Bush on a visit with Ground Zero (Zero being Obama)- hah...
One reason I will always admire and respect President
George W. Bush.
We will never forget you President Bush!
I hope they really DID invite him. I do. I can only imagine how it went down. And it makes me sick-but are we not supposed to base actions on past history?
That written, I, too, in my heart, am not surprised by President Bush's grace. And if the invitation was given by Uhbama himself, I am impressed.
F that clown!
Oh, btw, if you W’s FaceBook page and express your appreciation!
President Bush is doing the right thing by declining.
It strains credulity to imagine a sincere motive behind Obama’s invitation.
Smart move by President Bush. I’m sure he recognizes that Bin Laden’s death is not about him....unlike the current occupant of the White House who will use the occasion to shamelessly promote himself.
Yes, I miss President Bush in the White House. He’s the definition of class.
Good.
Bush doesn’t want to be a political prop for Obama. I wouldn’t want anything to do with Obama if I was Bush, the way Obama blames him for everything.
Pure class. One of the finest Men this great Country has.
Yep. He did it to the Supremes, he did it to Ryan, he gave the finger to Hillary. It's his Modus operandi.
Don’t be impressed by this poor excuse for a human being. He only invited GW so he has cover by going to ground Zero to show off and make a campaign stop out of it.
So glad GW turned him down. A “real man” doesn’t need reinforcement of others to know they have done the right thing.
I have seen several articles, today, about how Obummer is “using” the death of Osama to promote his own re-election.
Everyone knows that is the wrong reason for taking a life.
It is wondered by many if this couldn’t have been done months ago instead of right now after being snubbed by the Royal wedding, Trump hounding him about his birth cert. and his poll numbers the lowest due to the gas prices and spending.
Obummer never does anything without crowing about it and he has overstepped on this one. He should have made his speech and then let everyone else toot his horn.
“Thanks W. Dont give this hack punk president the photo-op he wants.”
Amen to that.
1) For a sense of completeness to bookend his words here:
“President Bush: I can hear you! I can hear you! The rest of the world hears you! And the people — and the people who knocked these buildings down will hear all of us soon!”
http://www.americanrhetoric.com/speeches/gwbush911groundzerobullhorn.htm
2) And secondly to see him be acknowledged for setting this in motion.
But I understand his humbleness in not going.
But the 10th anniversary will be a special time now.
This “event” makes no sense to me.
Or, I believe, anyone over 12 years old.
Now, if there’s going to be elephants, free food, circuses, maybe a few Christians thrown to lions... then I’d see a PR angle.
Maybe 12 years is the mental age of his core voters.
The list, ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
Thank you for everything Mr. President.
